Pseudo-President Romney – Republicans Believe

Right-Wing Media or Mainstream Media? They Are All The Same

They have welcomed Ryan as the wonder boy for Romney.  Now, with Ryan they can lie even more and use the press to do it.  Case in point:  the Richmond Times Dispatch. This manner of reporting has been done before, but this time it was blatant and unrepentant.  The Richmond Times Dispatch ran an editorial on the then new campaign ad from Romney/Ryan, you know the one, welfare to work requirement was being removed.  It was a lie.  The Richmond Times Dispatch ran an editorial: http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/rtd-opinion/2012/aug/15/tdopin01-gutted-ar-2131149/.  Which was a lie taken from the lie Romney initiated about welfare.  They ran it as truth.  I said it before, republicans see lies as truth, and truth as lies.  Today the Richmond Times Dispatch ran a news piece saying that the Romney ad had been proven false; http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2012/aug/20/new-romney-ad-pushes-debunked-claim-against-obama-ar-2142116/.  There was no apology for their blatant lie, pro Romney editorial or failure to actually do their job.  Even the newest journalism grad knows that you need at least three confirmations before you run a story.  They did nothing.  It was simple:  whatever Romney/Ryan say is the gospel truth, and our editorial board is going to say so.

So ti be clear. The Romney campaign runs an ad that’s a complete lie. Some editorial writer from the Richmond Times-Dispatch writes in defense of the ad, using the ad as the only source of material and doing no fact-checking. The Romney campaign then uses the editorial (which was based only on the original Romney ad) as evidence that their ad wasn’t a lie. When in doubt always lie, lie, lie, lie.  It makes Romney/Ryan the perfect Republican candidates.

Don’t let them make clowns of us.  Vote.  Tell the truth.  When newspapers lie, we must write the truth.  Expose them for what they are…hacks.

Racism In Pursuit of Victory

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.

Barry Goldwater, 1964 Republican National Convention at San Francisco, California

Immediately following making that statement in his acceptance speech, he was dismissed as a racist by the entire country.  He lost the election in dramatic fashion .  His own party branded him not only a racist, but a destroyer of the party.  That all changed in that year and in 1965.  He was no longer a racist, but was becoming a hero.

This same party has taken that creed and built up on it.  Goldwater and Nixon are now perceived as moderates now, compared to Reagan, Bush I and Bush II.  They learned their lessons well.  The Republican party has become a party of  usurpers and destroyers.

It was done simple by a stroke of a pen in 1964 and 1965.  It was the beginning of their destruction  and evil.  The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 gave Republicans the “Solid South”.  It once again opened the door to hatred and racism on a scale not seen since the Civil War.  The South was ready and able.  They were outraged that their rights to lynch and call blacks “niggers” was being infringed upon.  The Republicans played their race card, and what was once a Democratic stronghold now turned and became Republicans.

We call it now the “Southern Strategy”.  That phrase is an old Nixon line used by his political  strategist Kevin Phillips. In an interview in a 1970 New York Times article, he touched on its essence:

From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don’t need anymore than that… but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act.  The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That’s where the votes are.  Without the prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.

They sought to polarize ethnic voting in general, and not just to win the white South, but the South was by far the biggest prize.  The Republican party pandered to the Bible Belt, every Sunday go to meeting whites and told them we feel your pain.  The good Baptists of the South joined the new religion.  Republicans candidates began expressing support for states’ rights, a code of opposition to federal enforcement of civil rights for blacks and intervention on their behalf.  This strategy worked for Nixon in 1968 and for Reagan in 1980.

President Lyndon B. Johnson said it best in 1965:

I am signing away the south for 50 years.

It proved to be accurate.  The Democrats have never recovered the vote of the white racists in the South.

This should all sound new and to some familiar.  We have all watched the Republicans since the 2010 election.  Correction since the 2008 election.  They have perfected this strategy and the states with Republican power now, have moved forward the agenda.  Only this time the Republicans include everyone.  Many people in America have been wearing blinders so as not see that it is repeating itself.  It was clear not long President Obama’s election.  The famous line by Senator Mitch McConnell said it all:

The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.

This was and is the priority of the Republican party for 2008-2010 and now 2012.  They have deliberately not legislated.   They have made no  to effort to work on the people’s business. Appropriation bills not passed.   Racism is the religion.  The so-called  Religious Right no longer has any influence.  Their mission is solely  to return blacks and Hispanics  to their slave status, take the voting rights away and to return women to their place of sexual objects.  If you are not white and a man, you will be thrown out.  You have no control over your person and all your rights rescinded.    It is patriotic to be white.  Be proud to be white and American.  That is their message.

They also hope that we will forget.  That we won’t remember the war on women, making voter id laws, heartbeat bills, Governor Vagina and  Dr. Cooch.  They hope that we will be more interested in the Olympics and gold medals to remember how they have violated all of us.  They realize that the only way for Willard “The Rat” Romney to have any chance, is to not allow the majority of voters the right to vote.

There is an email floating around, at least here in Ohio, with parts of a transcript from Michael Richards defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act.

There are African-Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans etc.  And then there are just Americans.

It is being sent out by Republicans with the last line reading:

Be Proud to Be White and American!

So now if you are African-American, Greek American, Irish American, Jewish American, German American, Italian American, etc. you aren’t white and you are not American.  Imagine it, you are born in America, your heritage is Greek or Irish etc., but you are not American and certainly not white.  Therefore, you have no right to vote.  Enough is enough.

It is time to remember, it is time, especially women, to rise up and show them who has power in this country.  It is time to show so-called white men who has control over their bodies and their country.  Take it back.  Fight.

I am as mad as hell, and I am not going to take it anymore.

Sarah Palin, The Red Queen and The Troika of Lunacy

Sarah Palin, the Leader of the Troika of Lunacy

The Troika of Lunacy includes its leader, Sarah Palin, Rep. Peter King and Huckaboo.  Rep. King and Huckaboo have taken their lead from the Red Queen.

Rep. Peter King is her perfect student.  He supported the IRA knowing that they were murderers and terrorists. He even to this day doesn’t deny it and has no regrets about supporting the terrorist group.  It is strange for someone who is supposedly against terrorism.  Do we condemn all Catholics as being members of the IRA?  Do we condemn all whites as being members of the KKK?  Who do we leave out? American must distinguish between Muslims and murderers.  We can’t condemn an entire religion for the actions of the radical elements of that religion.

The Red Queen on the other hand, with all her anti-muslin, anti-muslin, anti-terrorism protestations, may have more in common with Muslim fundamentalist than she admits, and that we know about.

www.Salon.com in an article on Sept. 9, 2009 wrote:

“While may of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin inquired of the local librarian how to go about banning books that some of her constituents thought contained inappropriate language. She tried to fire the librarian for defying her. Book banning is common to fundamentalisms around the world, and the mind-set of Palin displayed did not differ from that of the Hamas minister of education in the Palestinian government who banned a book of Palestinian folk tales for its sexually explicit language. In contrast, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Our liberty cannot be guarded but by the freedom of the press, nor that be limited without danger of losing it.”

She is making an effort to destroy the First Amendment’s establishment clause, which forbids the state to give official support to any particular theology. It would set a precedent to any country’s religious activists thereby enabling them to cite an American precedent for their own quest to put religion back at the center of any country’s public and foreign policies.  We all know what the Queen things of the First Amendment.  Freedom of speech is only for her and does not apply to anyone else.  She uses her contempt for the First Amendment to her advantage.  She becomes a victim.

She has played the victim card, never more brilliantly than when she invoked the phrase “blood libel” against liberals and media commentators. Her politics of grievance and group identity is a betrayal of conservative principles. For decades it was the usual line of the right that liberals cynically used victimhood to achieve their goals and that they practice the politics of identity – race, sex, and class over ideas.  But now she is being turn against and by her own party.  Her ignorance was obvious with the use of the “blood libel” line.  She had no idea that very charge was used to justify atrocities against Jews over centuries. It is an old strategy to respond to one controversy or criticism by starting another .  She is good at that and it makes her the victim.  Unjustly attacked.  This is the only things that she is good at.  If she is considering a run in 2012, and this writer truly hopes so, then she needs to learn about policy, plans, government, and the First Amendment. She is good at using symbols, cross hairs, “blood libel” and others.  She cannot discuss policy or international relations or other subjects she would need a working knowledge of to be credible.

Palin holds that abortion should be illegal, even in cases of rape, incest or severe birth defects, making an exception only if the life of the mother is in danger.  She calls abortion an “atrocity” and pledges to reshape the judiciary to fight it.  Palins views are to the right of those in the Muslim country of Tunisia, which allows abortion in the first trimester for a wide range of reasons. Iran’s law on abortion is virtually identical to the one that Palin would like to see imposed on American women

“Theocrats confuse God’s will with their own mortal policies. Just as Muslim fundamentalists believe that God has given them the vast oil and gas resources in their regions, so Palin asks church workers in Alaska to pray for a $30 billion pipeline in the state because “God’s will has to be done.”

Palin has her right to her religious beliefs, as do fundamentalist Muslims who agree with her on so many issues of social policy. Still non of them has a right to impose their beliefs on others by capturing and deploying the power of the state. the most harmful belief that Palin shares with Muslim fundamentalists is her conviction that faith is not a private affair of individuals but rather a moral imperative that believers should include into statecraft wherever they have the opportunity to do so.   She really needs to read the Constitution, especially the First Amendment.

But Palin is not alone. She has taught her followers well. The public should stop wanting to see itself reflected in a leader. It is irrelevant if a political leader has any affinity with my life. The only that really should matter are ideas, experience and executive ability.

I must admit though, that Palin should have a discussion with Bachmann about the Revolutionary War.  I presume that she knows where the shot heard around the world occurred. Then again, she may only remember that they had guns and ammo.

To paraphrase Ann Coulter [it pains me to do so]: The reason not to condemn Muslims is that it’s unkind – not to jihadists, but to Muslims who mean us no harm. The same goes for building a mosque at ground zero – in both cases, it is not a question of anyone’s “rights,” it is just a nasty thing to do.

I Want My NASCAR: So Do Homeless Veterans

Having done some research and checked the continuing resolution just passed I found some interesting things.  We are paying for NASCAR.

Rep Betty McCollum is trying to stop the Pentagon from using taxpayer money funds to sponsor NASCAR.  It was defeated in the continuing resolution along with other budget cuts to the DOD.

It was an amendment, which was part of H.R.1, the appropriations bill to fund the federal government thru September.

Chief of Staff to McCollum said:With trillion dollar federal deficits this vote to protect taxpayer funded race cars shows that even a Tea Party Republican led Congress is not serious about cutting wasteful spending The American people need to know that a majority in Congress is will to cut homeless veterans, community health centers, and family planning services, but spend millions of tax dollars for race cars.

She also intends to introduce legislation to prohibit taxpayer funds from being used for sponsorship of race cars, dragsters, Indy cars, and motorcycle racing, as well as repeal the $45 million tax earmard for NASCAR and race track owners included in the 2010 law that extended the Bush tax cuts and added $858 billion to the federal budget deficit.

Rep. McCollum stated:  ….if it a choice between cutting homeless vertrans’ projects, kicking kids off of Head Start, or not having our tax dollars to to sponsor race car drivers….I just don’t see that we can afford that right now.

The Tea Party republicans, the Department of Defense and lawmakers from North Carolina say that the sponsorships help military recruitment, and that the tax breaks could save jobs in the struggling economy. Millionaire race track owners and drivers will soon be homeless if they do not get their tax breaks and earmarks.  Imagine.  These Tax breaks allows them to accelerate the depreciation of amenities and other improvements to their tracks.  Then naturally, the cost for the improvements get passed on to the attendants of the races.  It means we pay twice.  Military Recruitment they call it.  You have to wonder how long this has been going on and how much of tax dollars have been sponsoring race cars and tracks!!!!  It looks as we are shareholders in race cars and race tracks, and have no voting rights.

She has received death threats and a threatening fax that is being investigated by Capitol police. The racist message showed the head of Barack Obama within a noose being pulled behind a pickup truck, a clear memory of the 1998 dragging death and beheading of James Byrd, Jr. It called for “Death to all Marxists, called hera “slut”, and told her shut her “mucking pie hole.”

Now I know this doesn’t sound like a lot of money, but I question why the Federal Government is giving my hard earned tax money to very rich race car owners?  Because we can justify making kids do without to advertise on a race car to the song of $7 million.  They are taking money from prenatal care and the WIC nutrition program.  No way do they get to pay to paint a car. They should take some that money and increase pay to the members of the military who live just above the poverty line.

According to the National Coalition for the Homeless and the VA, the estimate is that 107,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. Over the course of a year, approximately twice that many experience homelessness.  Only eight percent of the general population can claim veteran stats, but nearly one-fifth of the homeless populations are veterans. About 15 million other veterans are considered at rick of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks and dismal living conditions in overcrowded or substandard housing.

You would think advertising is more important than helping homeless veterans?  They tell us to honor our veterans, but allow them to be homeless and second class citizens.  America tells them to go to a foreign land and fight for your country.  They come home to substandard medical care, joblessness and no future.  It seems that the DOD didn’t expect this many of them to return.

I know we need a strong defense to protect our country from terrorists and members of Congress. But we should take care of our soldiers during the war and heal them when they return.  Spending millions, and giving billions of tax breaks to NASCAR and race track owners does not help them.  I could suggest that we defund all their advertising budget.  But that is unrealistic.  They in reality need to advertise for our volunteer military. Subsidizing NASCAR is not recruiting.  It is an EARMARK for North Carolina.

We elected these people. It is time to undue what we ourselves have done.  Email, write and call Congress and tell them we want our money to come to us, to those who really need it.

It is time to rid ourselves of the Jabberwackies!!!!

Republicans Revolt: A blow against The Patriot Act

Tonight I saw a republicans, 26  of them, voted against the extension of three provisions of the Patriot Act was defeated.  Those true Republicans who actually believe in small government, civil liberties, and the Bill of Right, stuck it to their party.

Many new Republicans Members of Congress had signaled they would not support this bill, H. R. 514, stating that it was intrusion of big government. Big government wants to wiretap your phone, and conduct surveillance on them. Don’t change carriers or phone numbers, at least not too many times.  If you do, they may consider you a terrorist.  They want so badly to protect us But these new members of Congress are right – the Patriot act is an instrument of control created by Neo-Conservatives after September 11th. We have heard a lot a talk about government tyranny – mostly healthcare and taxes. But there’s been little talk about actual tyranny  – the PATRIOT ACT.  Eisenhower warned us:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous  rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

But we have been here before.  The spring of 1970. It was a time unchecked Presidential power. It violated our civil liberties.  They were afraid. Students protesting and they were afraid.  Led by the FBI, city and state police, they thought the American way of life was in jeopardy.  They launched the broadest program of domestic spying and infiltration this has ever seen at that time. It was the first PATRIOT ACT.  It was ultimately declared illegal and unconstitutional.

During that time, we had not forgotten or ignored our rights.  If you ignore your rights, you will lose them.  The Patriot act takes away our rights, but the majority of Americans ignored it.  They believed the government when they said we will make you safe, but we have to trample you rights and freedoms.  Ignore your rights and you will lose them.  It is time for our elected officials to put their money where their mouth is.  But we must do the more.

I could take a poll or maybe just ask the question to see if you still support the Bill of Rights.  Here’s one: as long as there appears to be no clear danger of violence, do you think any group, no matter how extreme, should be allowed to organize protests against the government?  My guess is that the answer would be no.  In fact, I would guess that the majority of Americans refuse to support five of the ten protections of the Bill of Rights, which is why we need a Bill of Rights.  It protects the minority from the majority who, by definition, need no protection.  I am sure that if asked the question, “do you support the Bill of Rights?’ you would answer “Yes”.  Trouble was, without the Bill people wouldn’t recognize the rights.

Hold your Senators and Representative accountable.  Make sure they serve you and not the party.  Protect your rights. Learn to fight.
