Mitt Romney is a Lying Stupid Bobble-Head White Rich Man, But You Already Know That

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and those are the ones to concentrate on.  ~ George W. Bush

I am not a leech.  Rat Romney thinks that I, we are leeches, chase government money to live on, are lazy, love our country only for the money it gives me and am not a responsible human being.  True I am in good company, military veterans, students, seniors, the disabled, the working poor, women, pay no income tax and all those other leeches.  Wait a minute.  Was he really talking about the middle class, the 47% or was he secretly speaking about himself.  After all, he pays no income tax.  I at least work hard for my paycheck, I take all the deductions that the Republicans gave me so I could pay less income tax so I could have more money to pay bills and redistribute funds to small businesses when I make a purchase.  That secret video shows that stupid people will listen intently only to even more stupid people.  Stupid people who lie.  Think about it.  It was a fundraiser…. please.  He doesn’t need the money to pay for his campaign to oblivion.  He can just write a check and move on.  This is only to try to convince other stupid rich people that he is just as stupid as they, just richer.  These are people who are going to pay higher taxes to help the poor and middle-class.  How dare they pay more.  He will cater to their basest political desires.  He is a racist – like his party.  Joan Walsh said it best:  “Mitt Romney should be ashamed of himself, and so should anyone who votes for him.”

I am a Democrat and proud of it, but I vote for people not parties.  There used to be good republicans once upon a time, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Dirksen, Ford and McCain.  Yes McCain.  I would have voted for McCain if the real McCain was running.  He started out the maverick, saying what he though and what he believed.  You knew where he stood and he held his ground.  He may not have always been right, but you knew who we was, what he believed and what his vision and hope was for America. Then he went off the cliff doing what the party wanted and there he lost my vote.  He was no longer a real man.  He showed up again when he conceded in 2008.  That McCain I would have voted for.  Call me crazy, but I would have.  Romney believes in nothing.  He can’t articulate what his vision is for America, what his plan for the economy is, how he plans to make the country better and stronger, how he will represent all of us.  He has no clue.  That was made clear and bright in the secret video.  He proved that he is not presidential material.

I had hope for Romney.  I would not vote for him, but I was willing to listen to his ideas, plans, hope and fears for our country and have those open to discussion.  I felt that we could have an open view of two different visions, if in fact they are different.  I had that hope.  What that video tape revealed is that Romney has written off the government check recipientsthat won’t vote for him, and almost half the people don’t pay taxes and undoubtedly won’t vote for him.  That is a hell of a lot people that won’t vote for him.  He announced that is has lost the election.  He told it to his supporters and the party.  It must be hard for him to get up in the morning.

I recently wrote of an imagined rural Ohio woman sitting on her porch, watching the campaign go by. She’s 60, she identifies as conservative, she likes guns, she thinks the culture has gone crazy. She doesn’t like Obama. Romney looks OK. She’s worried about the national debt and what it will mean to her children. But she’s having a hard time, things are tight for her right now, she’s on partial disability, and her husband is a vet and he gets help, and her mother receives Social Security.

She’s worked hard and paid into the system for years. Her husband fought for his country.

And she’s watching this whole election and thinking. You can win her vote if you give her faith in your fairness and wisdom. But not if you label her and dismiss her. ~ Peggy Noonan ~ Time for Intervention http://blogs.wsj.com/peggynoonan/2012/09/18/time-for-an-intervention/

Romney has no understanding of what life is and means to ordinary people.  He can’t associate with hardworking people, because he never had to work a day in his life.  He has dismissed millions and millions of people.  He has no conception of who they are, what they do to get by each and every day.  We don’t have stock that we can chip at to pay the rent and buy food as he did.  We have to work hard every day to make life better for ourselves and our families.  He just doesn’t know much or anything about America.  We are people with hopes and aspirations.  We are not just democrats and republicans, we have feelings, souls, ideas for our families and our country.  This is about America and the American people.  He doesn’t yet understand that.

Still, before the secret video, I was willing to listen.  I wanted to see if he could prove that he was qualified to be president.  I wanted to see his character.  How he would handle difficult situations.  I wanted to imagine him as president.  Then the Mideast exploded.  Here was his chance to be presidential.  Blue background and American flags.  When he stepped out to the podium on September 11,  we got cruel opportunism.  His smugness showed all over his face.  He was not presidential.  He condemned the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and accused the U.S. Government of sympathizing with terrorists.  The next morning he had a chance to make it right.  Instead, he intensified it: “When our grounds are being attacked and being breached, the first response should be outrage.” “Apology for America’s values will never be the right course. We express immediately when we feel that the President and his administration have done something which is inconsistent with the principles of America.”  He had a chance to make it right.  Instead while the U.S. Consulate in Libya was being attacked, while Libyans were defending Americans, While Americans and their defenders were being killed; he denounces and condemns these and Americans and their defenders.  With each word he spoke there was a dead body to accompany those words.  It was an opportunity, a chance for Romney to prove his quality. His character.  We now know he has neither.  He proved that he is hateful and self-destructive.  He showed his racism in this press conference and in the secret video.  Nothing he can say or do now will change that.

When I look at Romney now I see and hear Richard Nixon: “I am not a crook.”

Pseudo-President Romney – Republicans Believe

Wake Up People. Vote Republican and This Is What You Get

Legitimate Rape.  These are the men that make all these new laws concerning women’s health.  Families first, family values, Christian Right, God-fearing, compassionate conservatives passing legislation to control women’s bodies.  What do they know about anything.  This is a return to barefoot, stay in the kitchen pregnant women of the old days.  White haired old men making choices for women.  Just so they can be victimized again and again.  I have said it before in an earlier post, what state governments are doing to women is “governmental rape.”  What they can’t do with their little pods, they do with the law.  We should know by now that the louder they are, the smaller they are.  It’s pride for them, they have to prove they have a big dick.  They used to have a big dick, his name was Nixon, who f@cked everyone.  I must stop.  I had a flashback of 1972, summer and joints, and smoke and the big dick.  I digress or recess.

Nixon proudly said:  “I am not a crook.”  Ryan proudly states stance on abortion that it should be illegal even in the case of rape and incest.  Now with this comment from Akin, it seems that they both seem to think that if a women gets raped, is ovulating she can stop the egg from being fertilized.  Amazing.  Back to the place where women and blacks had their place.  Republicans are smashing the life out of women voters including conservative women.  They will find themselves in the voting both marking for Obama and they should.  All women should be thinking about their daughters  and friends daughters.  Look into your children’s eyes and see the future that lies ahead from the republicans.  Ryan as he had done today and the past few days will lie and stand up for abortion rights.  He’s doing that now with Medicare.  “My mother relies on Medicare……”.  Which of course is ludicrous.

Of course we could all move to Massachusetts.

“Truth is Treason”

In a free society we’re supposed to know the truth,” Paul said. “In a society where truth becomes treason, then we’re in big trouble. And now, people who are revealing the truth are getting into trouble for it.”

Now I know this quote is a couple of years old, and about Wiki leaks, but somehow it applies here as it concerns The Rat and The Roach[okay,[Romney and Ryan].  They have sent the Stooge out again.  Just look at what they have her saying now after VP Joe Biden’s truthful comments.  You could say they were a little strong, but they were the truth.  There is just no use kidding ourselves what Rat/Roach really wants for America.  When he stands and looks out at his supporters and the real American public he sees not working America, he sees criminals that need to be punished with more taxes and poverty.  He sees dangerous parasites and leeches preparing to strike at the heart and soul of the Great American System that put them where they are now.   More about this later, now back to the Stooge, aka Andrea “Stooge”Saul.
What was so terrible about what Vice President Biden said:
They’ve said it.  Every Republican’s voted for it.  Look at what they they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing.  Romney wants to let the — he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street,” Biden said.  “They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing.”
Republicans have spoken for these 2 years and more to the need to “unshackle” the private sector from regulations.  Mind you the private sector, meaning the citizens, working class families, women, blacks, illegal immigrants, immigrants, and poor people remain shackled to high taxes, joblessness, and poverty.
Their record speaks for itself:  the war on women, voter suppression, personhood bills, heartbeat bills and you see the compulsion to return women, blacks and immigrants to lives of slavery, chained and shackled to the whims of white rich men.
And the Stooge response:
After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Gov. Romney, the Obama campaign has reached a new low, the Stooge said. The commends made by the vice president of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama campaign will say and do anything to win this election.
When Obama backed Biden the Stooge said:
In case anyone was wondering just how low President Obama could go in his campaign for reelection, we now know he’s willing to say that Governor wants to put people back in chains, Whether it’s accusing Mitt Romney of being a felon, having been responsible for a woman’s tragic death or now wanting to put people in chains, there’s no question that because of the president’s failed record he’s been reduced to a desperate campaign based on division and demonization.
Felon?  The Rat did that to himself.  Won’t release tax returns, so he must be hiding something he doesn’t want anyone to know.  Responsible for a woman’s tragic death?  I didn’t hear that.  It said no health insurance to help his wife during this illness.  He lost his job thanks to the Rat.  She, herself said:
“If people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care,” said Saul
All the Rat/Roach campaign can do is lie.  If they were even remotely to consider telling the truth it would be treason.  Truth is something that the Republican party has no interest in. They are incapable of doing so.    Hubris.  Narcissism.
I for one am so tired of their self-serving, self-indulgent, selfish and self-righteous outrage and lies.  They have no comprehension of what the truth is.  The Rat just lies.  It is what the Rat does every day of his life, on purpose, as a matter of policy, and a perfect expression of everything he stands for.

“Bane”/Romney Conspiracy Maybe

I have been absent for sometime. Graduations, retirements, funerals and illness have had me on the move.  But I have been paying attention.  I am back.

I am particularly struck by the fact that he would include himself in this statement.  You all have read it if not here is part of that quote:

And it’s a lot of brain dead  people.

I guess I should include the entire quote

Anyway, so this evil villain in the new Batman movie is named Bane. And there’s now discussion out there as to whether or not this was purposeful, and whether or not it will influence voters. It’s going to have a lot of people. This movie, the audience is going to be huge, lot of people are going to see the movie. And it’s a lot of brain-dead people, entertainment, the pop culture crowd. And they’re going to hear “Bane” in the movie, and they are going to associate Bain. And the thought is that when they start paying attention to the campaign later in the year, and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain, not Bain Capital, but Bain, Romney and Bain, that these people will think back to the Batman movie –“Oh yeah, I know who that is.” There are some people who think it will work. There are some people think it will work. Others think — “You’re really underestimating the American people who think that will work.”

Does anyone remember the pathetic film “Batman and Robin” from the 90’s?  Bane was there and he was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger!!!!!!!  Next our favorite drunk uncle/addict will be trying to tell us that “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” was actually about 9/11, despite that Tolkien wrote and published it 50 plus years ago.  We are off to the right-wing so far back that even we don’t know about it  machine.  First, they went way back to create fake birth announcements, then they went way way back to fake autobiographies, and now the epitome of slime——-their most diabolic plot ever——-DC Comics here they come. Rush is clairvoyant, better yet,  hallucinating, because he see things in so many things that the rest of us ignore.  We consider it lunacy.  Limbaugh makes you proud to be Foreign like Obama, because if Limbaugh and Mittler are good Americans I certainly want no part of it.

Let see if we can think of and recommend to Limbaugh other plots against Mittler.  Does anyone know named Adolf?  How about Hitler?  We could look it up in the white pages?  Rudolph!!!  Now there is one Rush should jump on………a reindeer with a bright, shiny, glowing red nose every year flying over America.  God Almighty, a communist reindeer.  All these years we have been reading to our children the story of a communist reindeer that traversed the world allegedly to deliver toys to children, but was that really true?

Where are you Rush, drunk uncle, when we really need you?

Ohio Diary #10: Racist, Do Nothing Ohio Congressional Lawmakers Play Key Role in Debt Talks

That was the headline in my local city newspaper.  Well, not exactly, it actually read “Ohio lawmakers play a key role in debt talks.” I thought it would be better to tell the truth about them, racist and do nothing.  And I forgot sexist, woman hating elephant dung.

My newspaper gave a brief description or synopsis of their role in the debt talks.  Like most newspapers, they didn’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.  Actually, it said nothing.  There was no real reporting.  No truth test, no questions; absolutely nothing.

So in the interest of the truth, in the interest of really exposing these three lawmakers[?], I will do it for them.

John Boehner was the first subject in the article.  The paper said:

Within the next week or so, Boehner must broker a deal with the White House that can pass the House.

Boehner is doing nothing.  He is a robot for the teapublicans.   The coward will not tell them the truth.  He simply doesn’t know how.  His theory is to keep them happy so he can remain the speaker.  If he would only speak.  On July 12, John Boehner claimed talks to raise the $14.3 trillion national debt ceiling hung on whether or not President Obama did his job.

This debt ceiling increase is his problem.

That is just what Boehner said.  Boehner’s statement is a lie.  It has no basis in fact or reality.  On that same day, Jay Powell, former U.S. Treasury undersecretary in the Bush [the father] Administration said:

In our system of government, Congress decides how much to spend and what to spend it on and orders the executive branch to do just that…The executive branch has no independent role to decide which of Congress’ laws to obey and which not.

So in fact, the President, this one, the next one, cannot raise the debt ceiling. That is exactly true, he can after default for the good of the Republic, use the Fourteenth Amendment and raise the debt ceiling, but only after default.  Congress must appropriate money that the President can then spend.   John Boehner has lost control of his party.  Boehner should come down from his cross and do what is best for America.  But he doesn’t want a deal anymore than any other Republican.

Steve Austria:  He happens to be my representative.  I say that sarcastically.  I have been on conference calls, attended constituent meetings, and if you are a Democrat, you basically are not allowed to speak.  You can’t ask questions.  You get ignored.  He like all his fellow dung carriers, wants no tax increases.  He said he was against the cap, cut and balance pledge.  Still, when the vote took place on Tuesday, he voted for it, just like the good baby elephant that he is. He has no original ideas, he has offered nothing.  You can’t say much about him, because there isn’t much to him.

Jim Jordan:  He is chairman of the Republican Study Committee, they are the group that wrote and insisted on severe cuts in all things.  His bill was the Cut, cap and balance, {HR 2506].  He, unlike many of his caucus members, does not predicts disaster  August 2 come and go without action. He predicts a glitch.  A glitch.  Then he said:

The real hurdles would come later when entitlements such as Medicare and Social Security crash.

He doesn’t want to raise taxes,.  He and his partners, will tell you tax cuts will magically grow America out of the debt crisis, create jobs and grown the economy.  He believes that more than his friends.  I want him to tell me why ten years of Bush tax rates have coincided with the miserable economy, worst since the Depression and the biggest rise in deficits in United States History?

All these years, he and the GOP have been telling us they are your only hope for a balanced budget. When Republicans in the White House 2001, they doubled the national debt, and turned Bill Clinton’s $155 billion surplus into a trillion-dollar deficit.  To hear them talk, it was the Democrats.

Republicans wast to keep Wall Street happy.  That needs no explanation.

They have supported and encouraged legislation against women’s rights, civil rights, the poor, children and the middle class. They feel that women are servants and have no place in public life.  In fact, they believe that women should have no life of their own.  Deprive them of their rights and they can do nothing without our consent.

They won’t make a deal on the debt issue, because they won’t give President Obama anything.  They won’t even talk.  Not to Obama and obviously not to each other.  If you’re not white you don’t belong in the White House.  They still insist he is an immigrant, an illegal immigrant.  Hence no immigration reform. Hence the attack on all “Muslims”, run by Rep. Peter King.

They don’t want to tell you the truth.  Maybe, they don’t know what the truth might be, or they just like being racist, sexist, lazy, do nothing rich white people’s representatives.

House Democrats Sing “I Got You Babe”.

If you’re going to play the game properly, you’d better know every rule.  Barbara Jordan

I am sure that Rep. Mary Bono Mack is having a memory of Sonny.  The Democratic trick worked.  They learned it from the Republicans.  But they just didn’t trick the ‘Conservative Four’, but their leadership which in reality made them change their vote.  It was genius on the part of Democrats.  They decided to ram a more conservative budget plan by the Republican Study Committee through the House in order to hang it around Republican necks.  For Democrats, the light came on, and this time somebody was home.

I thought to myself the Republican leadership is probably thinking we’re going to defeat it for them. I said to myself I’m not interested seeing that happen. I want the Republicans to show what they believe. And if a majority of them believe that that’s the kind of budget they want the American people need to know that.  House Majority Whip Steny Hoyer [D-MD]

That is just what happened.  It was time for the true believers, all of them, to stand up for what they have been advocating for months and for what they believe.  They were missing in action.  What else can you expect when you don’t have a brain.  They obviously don’t even want one.  They say they are true believers.  The problem with that is that to be a true believer requires you to blindly follow.  To believe anything absolutely requires no thought what so ever. You don’t need to think so why have a brain.  When God was handing out brains, they heard trains, and have been waiting, still waiting all this time.

To have real power one must tell the truth.  Republicans have never been able to do that.  They are on a witch hunt against the middle class and poor Americans.  If they had told the truth, they would have said that they really didn’t mean a $9 trillion cut.  Instead, they almost got what they wished for.

With almost all the Democrats voting present, Republicans were on the run.  They realized that there were about to accidentally pass a plan that was too politcially radical even for them.  Only 15 Democrats declined to switch their votes from “no” to “present.  The plan failed by 16 votes.  The trick caused chaos on the House floor and it was a beautiful site.  Republican leadership panicked and pushed their own members to switch their votes from yes to no.  Panicked!  It was a sight that delighted my imagination.

But it gets even better.  For an unknown reason, 15 Democrats voted no [maybe they voted no before they learned about the strategy].  You do the math.  If these Democrats [Blue Dogs] voted present, the thing would have lost by one vote.  Republicans had to get their own members to change their vote, or what they wished for would pass.  But for Republicans this was all about show.  They knew it would slash $9 trillion would never be adopted as the official position of the House and the Republican Party.  It was to be a symbol for them.  They were all going home for two weeks, and they had to say they tried.  It would allow them to go home and play to their home base.  Can you imagine if this had really worked, and the Republicans had to backtrack, how dumb they’d look and sound? “But we didn’t mean to pass it, they tricked us into it!”

Did we fight our Revolutionary War to rid ourselves of a tyrant, only to have it replaced with 200+ tyrants?  Why did we bother then?  At least as British citizens we would all have health care and our money would be worth something.  Somehow right now that doesn’t seem so bad.

The Declaration of Independence says: “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights….”.  It doesn’t say anywhere, except blacks, homosexuals, firefighters, teachers, unions, middle class or poor.  Everybody is entitled.

We have ourselves, at least that voted Republican, to blame.  I have a brain and thusly I managed to think before I voted.  I have no blame or responsibility for others ignorance.  Whoever you are, you gave them a ticket to ride.  There are those us who want to through them off the bus or under it, and we will eventually.  Hope springs eternal.

The obscure we see eventually, the completely apparent takes longer.  Edward R. Murrow

We are losing Our Class” The Republican Class Wars

I used to think that I was the most middle-class person that ever lived.  That is what marketing and advertising told me.  We all have to buy this and drink that, and it must be the same thing or else.  Coke or Pepsi, fresh perked coffee or instant?  Polo’s or Kmart?  The real thing or nothing at all.  Do this and you are middle-class.  Now the republicans are telling me the same thing. Our way or no way.

Seven our to ten people define themselves as middle class, so we may be just looking up and down at the other three who don’t. They are probably the people who don’t buy or drink the what they are told to. Really is there no hope at all?

I am shocked at the bloodless coup  that has been realized here.  As social movement has stumbled the last twenty years, we have the majority of people self certifying themselves as middle c\lass. Certified is the correct word. Delusions of grandeur are one thing. Delusions of being middle class when you earn minimum wage, and are trying to make ends meet, implies that the class war is not going that well. It is hard after all, to maintain a class war when everyone says they are all on the same side.

What has happened is that the Republicans and Democrats have hooked on to the idea of hope being a vote getter exactly at the same time when those same hopes cannot be met for many in a globalised economy. Homeowing, self-reliance, a good job for life, nice vacations, and an appetite for real experiences come to define us. What we buy has come to define us, rather than what we produced, have become our real identity. As any fool knows, any radical or Marxist, this is not what social class really means. This is reducing class to the trivial pursuit of consumer power.

The Republicans, more so than the Democrats, are trying to turn us into uniform classlessness. They campaigned on jobs, jobs, and more jobs. Putting people, the middle class, back to work. The great lie, we are all in this together.  Now this does seem like a good idea, until you understand just what must happen first to get there.

First you attack women’s rights. Attack, what could I be thinking?  Eliminate them altogether.  Return to the good old days of the 50’s, when women stayed home, had babies, cooked and cleaned house.  Only now, if you want children or not, you need governmental approval.  Abortions not an option, even in the case of rape or incest.  Abortion for those reasons would lead to faked rape and incest cases.  Just like those good old days, you have no control over your own life and body.  Back to the back alley abortions.

Then comes fear.  Fear of everything and everyone Middle Eastern.  They are all obviously terrorists and want to kill us. But now, I have learned thanks to the teabaggers, that I should be afraid of anyone that looks different, is a different color and religion.  I should be a racist pig, er elephant.

According to the elephant in the room, the Christian Right and teabaggers, my middle class values must be theirs.  My faith and religion certainly is not good enough, even though, my God is the same as theirs.  At least I thought so.  I must be wrong for they tell me so.

Now we are in no-man’s land. We are unable to share the nostalgia for the good old working classes. There is much about the working class life that is boring and about putting yourself into a drug induced stupidity. The nobility of the working class life is pure fiction. I mean really. No man would live half their lives underground in a mine if they had another choice. No woman now joyfully gets up in the dead of night to go clean offices.

If we don’t mind being defined by vote hungry Republicans or people who want to sell us things, then we should just be happy and jump on their wagon. This is a con. They want to change of all into some uniform vision of middle classness. Robots, that is what they want, and it seems that we are willing to let them.

The difficulty now is that mere desire,  middle class or not, is not enough. The hopes of the young – to be famous without talent – is no less crazy than many current political desires. We are to have growth and prosperity and jobs without investment. Nuts! We are all supposed to be happy and proud while they cut off our arms, legs and heads of the public sector.  That is really nuts.

No rational human being would just sit by and let this happen.  But we have allowed ourselves to be put into marketing categories.

Yet there is hope.  The protests in Wisconsin and Ohio and other states has proven this.  By protesting, we simply state that our individual interests and hopes are not those of the “ruling class”. Some of us may think that we are middle class, but we must fight the fiction and propaganda that class no longer matters.

So am I middle class, underclass?  Or do I just simply have no class at all.  I resist their notion that I am nothing. I will resist their notion that they are better than me. I will resist being sold.

John Boehner, John Kasich, the Governor of Wisconsin and all other states must have Alzheimer’s. They have forgotten who elected them.

What Job Creation?

Diary of Republican Lies

Did they not promise in the Pledge to America to creat jobs?  So where are they?  Where is their plan for job creation?  Instead, if the Republicans get away with cutting billions and billions of dollars in discretionary spending over the next few months, the immediate victims will be federal employees whose jobs will be eliminated as their agencies are cut back.

House Speaker, John Crying Boehner said:

In the last two years, under President Obama, the federal government has added 200,000 new federal jobs [he could not substantiate that claim]. If some of those jobs are lost so be it. We’re broke.

Yes, we are broke, thanks to Republicans. They altered laws on regulation. We are broke because the Republican liars broke us. Republicans ran up enormous debts, engaged us in never-ending wars, perverted our financial system for their friends on Wall Street.

Republicans forget that these employees will collect unemployment insurance, so the government’s [taxpayer] obligations will not go away with their jobs.

These job losses are met with a smug and arrogant ‘so be it’. If you try to cut agricultural farm subsides,  they scream rape, they go into this crazed tirade about unemployment and ‘job killing’.

We could start by eliminating the number of staff each member is allowed.  Do they really need all that help.  Do we need [taxpayers] need to pay for their health insurance and other benefits.

Here’s a better idea:  Lets just remove, cancel all public healthcare, benefits and retirement benefits for all federal legislators.  They could just say, I don’t want it, I really want to make meaningful effort to lower taxpayer costs.  There would no need for a constitutional amendment.  But they are hypocrites and gutless.

I guess they believe that federal employees really aren’t employees , government jobs really aren’t jobs and as such will have no impact on unemployment rates.

There education was a waste which is why they want to cut education.  Since they didn’t learn why should anyone else?

Happy Birthday Ronald Reagan: The Conservative Hero

Hail the conquering hero of tax cuts, small government, balanced budgets, and lower deficits.  They gather this weekend to sing his praises.  He is the patron saint of conservatives. Envoke his name and America is better.  Republicans and Conservative perpetuate the myth everyday.  Boehner will cry and Palin will sing his tax cut song.  Their view is that is if you raise taxes you lack the competence and the will to govern.    It is a myth.  They are in denial.

1.  Reagan raised taxes:  He raised them 11 times.  In fact, he raised taxes 7 of his 8 years in office. Including 4 times in two years.  Priest of tax cuts is a false mythology.  According to Conservatives that makes him incompetent.

2. The Federal Budget deficit tripled. It increased by $3 billion . Just about three times as much as the first 80 years of the century His first year, he enacted a massive tax cut, government revenue dropped like a rock, and the government went deeper and deeper into debt.

3.  In 1983 he agreed to a $165 billion bailout of Social Security after trying to privatize it.  This is after pushing to cut Social Security benefits.  He also increased and expanded the Pentagon budget.  Bailout imagine that.

4.  unemployment soared after the Reagan tax cuts of 1981. It rose to 10.8 percent after his great tax cut.  It was a myth that Reagan presided over an era of unmatched economic growth for all Americans, Reagan disproportionately taxed the poor and the middle class. Since 1980 the median household income has risen only 30 percent, adjusted for inflation, while average incomes at the top have tripled.

5.  Reagan grew the size of the federal government.  He promised to move fast, boldly and decisively to control the out of control growth of the federal government. But federal spending went out of the universe under Reagan. He promised to cut government agencies such as the Department of Energy and Education but in the end he added one of the biggest – the Department of Veterans Affairs, which as of today has a budget of $90 billion and nearly 300,000 employees.   So much for small government.

6. Reagan gave amnesty to 3 million undocumented [illegal] immigrants. He signed into law a bill that made any immigrant who had entered the country before 1982 eligible for amnesty. It was billed a crackdown, but the tough sanctions on employers who hired illegal immigrants were removed before final passage. It helped 3 million people and millions more family members gain American residency.  It is a major embarrassment for conservatives.

7. Reagan sold arms to Iran. It was the Iran-Contral scandal, a huge political scandal and officials resigned.

8.  Reagan helped create the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden.  Regan fought a proxy war with the Soviet Union by training, equipping, arming and funding Islamist mujahidin fighters in Afghanistan He sent billions of dollars, along with top-secret intelligence and weaponry to these fighters through the Pakistan intel service. The Taliban and Osama Bin Laden – a prominent mujahidin commander – emerged from these mujahidin groups Reagan helped create. US. policy towards Pakistan continues to remain strained because of the intelligence services’ close ties to these fighters. Reagan’s decision to go on with the proxy was after the Russians were willing to retreat played a direct role in Bin Laden’s ascendency.

These facts are for the most part lost as the right has enshrined Reagan as its patron saint. Conservatives seem to be in denial about the unflattering parts and policies of Reagan. They really don’t know the truth of his legacy.

This myth has led us to the political situation we have now.  They are in denial and continue to tell the same lies. Will a Republican or Conservative have the courage to stand up and begin to govern? Will they hold that party line or will they continue down the path of good intentions.  As we all know, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.  Have they sold their souls to the teabaggers? Will they remember who they work for, or is the party more important than the people.

The image of Ronald Reagan as savior is myth. It was created to untie the many parts of the right behind one leader. It was a fractured party then. It is even more so now.

There is hope if the people begin to hold Republicans and Democrats feet to the fire.  Hope is a good thing.  In this case hope will only work if the conservatives and republicans leave the myth behind and admit the truth.  Something thus far they are unable and unwilling to do.
