Ohio Diary #17: Turn Out The Vote – Prove Ohio Isn’t All Racist

The day is almost here.  If you haven’t voted early, do it now.  Get out the vote.

Now you may say Ohio isn’t racist not just Ohio but Florida, Pennsylvania and all other red states.  Voter suppression is racist.  They know if they can keep democrats from the polls they will win the election.  Over these many months we have been “informed” by the press and media about the “horse race” with no real discussion of policy and racism.  Like television, they are only interested in entertainment and not knowledge.  Selling newspapers is so much more important.

Hatred and racism is the hallmark of the republican party.  It is what they do best.  They have told so many lies that that believe them to be fact.  So many lies that it has shown itself for what it truly is……….Racist.  It is not new and we should already know this.  It is only now more obvious.  A black man is President, living in the Whitehorse.  Billboards in poor and black neighborhoods, lies about voter ID and then there is Trick the Vote [ True the Vote].  True the Vote is an oxymoron for republicans.  For them there is no truth in the voting process.  They promised to follow the Constitution and then pervert it.  They say they are Christians, but speak hatred and racism.  Hypocrites and contradictory positions.  New Left Media said it best:

  Well, perhaps the capacity to hold so many contradictory beliefs at once reflects the fact that the public school curriculum has become solely oriented around series of standardized tests, robbing a large portion of our citizenry (among other things) of the capacity for critical thinking skills. Or maybe it is because the internet has enabled people to exist in completely different social and political realities wherein they seek out and find only the type of information that will confirm their pre-existing worldviews. Or maybe it’s because local media has essentially collapsed and the mainstream media, interested less in delivering the news than in acting as faithful defenders of the status quo, is unable to effectively help the public to thoroughly vet the Republican nominee.

The republicans are not meant to think.  Just follow.  So, it is time to get out the vote.  We can stand in line for hours to get into a football game, so we can stand and wait to vote.  Your vote is so much important.  Don’t get tricked.  Stand up for all of us, women, the poor, the middle-class!!!!!  We need to make American proud of herself.

 

 


Shut The Flock Up!!!!!

 Well, Mom, to answer your question… some people get the warm and fuzzies thinking about what wonderful, compassionate progressives they are. It just feels so damn good to be so open-minded and CONCERNED about all of these poor VICTIMS in our society. Unfortunately for “progressives”, socialistic ideas have been proven failures throughout history, time and again. Europe is a mess at the verge of utter collapse. Libs love to cite European countries where the lifestyle is supposedly better than ours. These countries are about the size of Vermont, so whoopee whoo for them. Maybe socialism works for a country with a population of 200. Meanwhile, the U.S. props up the world economically and militarily and pays for it by borrowing from China. If people think the “progressive” way is so wonderful, I’m sure Cuba would happily accept them…it’s only a short boat ride away after all.

The above was taken from a Facebook message sent in response to her stating that some people thing that if you are not in favor of every social program thought up you must not be compassionate.  Several people commented.  They were of both parties.  But this girl went after the “progressives” and liberals.  She needs to shut the flock up.

She made an unwarranted attack.  It is obvious that she does not know very much about the affordable healthcare act, Europe, North America, and socialism.  This is reminiscent of the Vietnam War days in reverse…..if you were against the war you were a communist.  Does anybody remember “Love it or leave it”?  So we have come to that now.  But even in her rant above she lies.  Libs do not site European countries where the lifestyle is better than ours.  What we do cite is that the healthcare in all these countries is so much better than ours.  Germany, France, Greece, Spain, Italy and let’s not forget Canada,  are not the size of Vermont, and their populations exceed her 200 standard.  And we should self-deport….to Cuba.  This is the mentality in the state of Ohio.  This is my front and backyard.  Their only recourse is to degrade and denounce democrats, progressives and liberals.

If you don’t like the truth, then make up your own.  Lie about the lies you told.  Live in a parallel universe if you can’t accept the truth.  For this girl real facts are not acceptable.  It is what they do.  They have no argument, no logical argument, so they go off the reservation and declare that we are all socialists and love Stalin.  She even uses the word Romney made famous VICTIMS.  They just buy into the we are leeches theory.  She like so many others has seen and heard the Devil, and she believes.

What did you think the Devil is going to look like if he’s around? Nobody is going to be taken in if he has a long, red pointy tail.  No. I’m serious here. He will look attractive and he will be nice and helpful and he will get a job where he influences a great God-fearing nation and he will never do an evil thing…..he will just bit by bit lower standards where they are important. Just coax along flash over substance…..just a tiny bit.    Broadcast News

They have forgotten how to persuade people who don’t agree with them.  They have created their own environment and remain entrenched inside it.  They only listen to themselves and of course the Devil. They just lie about everything   Deniers about everything.  They lie about their lies.  The biggest error of the Conservatives  the Republican Party was naming Paul Ryan as Romney’s running mate  They did it simply because Ryan had a “policy” a budget, a plan.  Romney obviously has none.  Unless you count trying to take President Obama’s.  But remember, if you are a liberal, a Democrat, a progressive you are scum…..a socialist that needs to be put a ship and sent to Cuba.  A modern-day voyage of the damned.

Still, for all their talk I feel this all comes down to race.  They wont shout it out, but it is truly white against white.  Rich against poor, middle-class, women, veterans  Latinos and working families.  Just consider the extreme effort republicans have taken to eliminate voters, violate women, starve families, deprive veterans, the elderly and all hard-working Americans.  We are progressives and we should disappear.  That is their vision.

The Rat and The Roach Ticket: Go Obama 2012

I must admit that last night when I heard the news that the Rat had chosen the Roach to be his VP,  I was screaming and dancing.  I was just as happy as I could be.  Democrats were handed a gift and we won.  A party that is cutting its own throat, even if it taking them a long time, they picked a man, I use that loosely, who wants to end Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security as their VP.  The author of the most draconian budget in our history wants to be second in charge.  The Roach has the gall to call it The Path to Prosperity, Restoring Americas Promise, so it was called for Budget year 2012; changed it to:  The Path to Prosperity: A Blueprint for American Renewal for Budget year 2012.  Naturally, it asks questions that be the obvious questions:  Restoring Americas Promise?  Promise for the rich; Blueprint for American Renewal? Renewal of tax cuts and destruction of everyone else.

They may have a problem:  the most prominent and partisan supporters of the Republican party have been senior citizens who both speak with their money and their vote.  they have been loud and clear “to keep your hands off my Medicare.”  The promise is that those seniors,those  Republicans will now reconsider their support, read the so-called budget and see it for what it really is, destruction and death of the poor and middle class.  That they will see lie in the statement that his Catholic faith guided him in forming this travesty.  Jesus taught us to take care of the poor.  That Jesus told the rich man to give up everything he owns, give it all away and follow him.  Must not have been part of his catechism.  His truth faith is Ayn Rand.

Then I saw this ad.  It should run on television and full length.

We cannot go back.  We can only move         

We must rise up and vote.  Ride share and take a friend.  Ohioans  get with it.  They want to stop early voting, well the we will just storm the polls.  Take a friend, family, anyone and go vote.  Tell them that we want our rights back.  Throw the elephants out.  Send the message that we know what we want, and what is good for us.  We decide what we can do with our bodies and our minds.  Tell them that all their money in elections is irrelevant.  Make it clear the BatSh#tCrazy doesn’t get it anymore.

VOTE!! DON’T BE LAZY!! TAKE A FRIEND!! THROW THE RATS TO THE DOGS!!!!!


“I Need You to Vote for Romney and Save America”

I was attending church a week ago and a “friend” called me over and said “I need for you to vote for Romney and save America.”  Now mind you this man knows I am a Democrat, usually vote that way, and think for myself regardless of who I vote for.  Still, I was surprised.  First, I thought it was a joke, but I could see by the look on his face he was quite serious.  Still, believing this was still a joke, my response was: “Vote for Romney……..George Romney.  No wait, he’s dead. Oh what is it I don’t know.”  He did not see the humor in it.

Like four years ago, Republicans in Ohio are  becoming desperate.  I mean desperate.  They have sold their souls to the republican party and RNC.  They are whores for whores.  Like lemmings they recite the loyalty oath to the party and sing the praises of Willard the Rat.  Mittens is the rat.  He has been trained by the republican party to kill the party.  I know it was on its last leg after McCain, but now it is barely breathing.  It is stunning.  The more I see, the more my heart is filled with happiness.

Think of it as road to salvation.  It is how it was presented to me after all in church, God etc.  What better place to plead and pray for Rat votes.  They were telling me that if I donate just $5.00 to “The Rat”  I could begin to pay my way to salvation.  The Rat’s own website states it:  Learn The Truth:  Sign up to receive emails with the truth.  Imagine it, straight from God himself….the truth.  Donate $5.00 and you get more.  Only the more is a surprise.  Even the baby rats the run big Rats’ show don’t know.  Since the Rats all lie it can only be true that this is a lie too.

To prove his faith and hope of salvation, the Rat put out this campaign :

It was never meant to be used as a political platform, but here he is touting how he saved the 2002 Olympics and Salt Lake City, the bastion of Mormonism.  The Rat tells lies, lies and more lies.  What is past comprehending is why people believe him.  It must be the thought of salvation that is too great to resist.  Get your ticket to ride everybody.

Ohio Diary #11: The Columbus Dispatch’s Fake News: Kasich Wants To Negotiate SB 5

First you must never trust your local newspaper or TV channel.  They will only tell you one side of the story, or as in the Columbus Dispatch story; just make it up.

I must tell you that there was a time, a very long time ago, that the Columbus Dispatch was an excellent newspaper.  They printed the facts and told it from both points of view.  Now, it seems that their political bias is more important.

All this past week, the Dispatch has been running a story of how regrettable and unfortunate it is that labor won’t sit down and try to work out a comprise on
Senate Bill 5.  Senate Bill 5 is the anti-union, anti-collective bargaining bill that has been passed, and signed by the Governor.  It is has yet to be implemented because it is to be on the November ballot to repealed.  It is a story designed to present Kasich as willing to compromise but labor as unbending and unyielding.  It is a fake.

Here is what the Dispatch Editorial said:

On Sunday, a Dispatch editorial called for proponents and opponents of Senate Bill 5 to reach a compromise that would require public employees to pay more for their health care and pensions but would strip away the bill’s provisions that aren’t related to controlling government costs.

Yesterday, sources told Dispatch reporters that informal discussions between two people affiliated with the defense of Senate Bill 5 and representatives from the Ohio Education Association and the AFL-CIO took place about six weeks ago, but labor backed away.

On Sunday the Dispatch’s editorial page said the offer came from Governor Kasich, but the news division subtly backed away and said it was two people affiliated with the defense of Senate Bill 5.  They weren’t from the Governor’s office after all.  It explains why labor wouldn’t consider talking to them.  Who were these two people negotiating?  How did the editorial board seem to know about this so-called deal before the newsroom? It is very simple…because the Dispatch essentially was one of the people representing pro-SB 5 interests at the meeting.  Mike Curtin, former Vice-Chairman of the Dispatch Printing Company and Curt Steiner, former OSU lobbyist, former Voinovich chief-of-staff pushed the “We Are Ohio” campaign on the possibility of working out a deal with Kasich to avoid having to have a referendum issue.

What could they promise to the unions?  They have no authority to negotiate a deal that requires the involvement of the GOP legislature and Kasich.  It was an attempt to make the unions and the “We Are Ohio” campaign look unreasonable.  It was an imaginary story.  All in the minds of Curtin and Steiner.

But guess what?  Kasich played along.  He held an alleged” negotiation meeting yesterday, and  no one showed up.   There sat Kasich and his aides, all of three people, and no one came.  Taking his lead from the Dispatch, he assailed the unions for refusing to negotiate a deal on SB 5.

In a letter from We Are Ohio to the Governor, they simply stated that they would not negotiate until the bill in its current form was repealed.  They urged the Governor to call the legislature back and repeal the law.

This is a publicity stunt on Kasich’s part.  He is trouble, polls show him in the toilet and sinking fast.  He has seen what has gone on in Wisconsin and is afraid as he should be.  He is a beggar.  He had a chance to meet with the unions in February, when the bill was being debated.  Kasich outright refused to meet with unions six months ago.  Kasich has said: “I’ve listened. I’ve heard. I’ve made a decision.” That was the end of it.  Until now that is.

Kasich is now the ludicrous spectacle that he deserves to be.  He was negotiating with himself.  He had help though.

Kasich’s arrogance shows through with this blatant attempt to attack unions and weaken support for the Democratic party.  He did not do this by himself. He had partisan support of members of the house and senate. They are equally responsible for being sheep and blindly following their leader down the path to destruction.

Back to the Columbus Dispatch.  The Dispatch tried to broker a deal on SB 5. Then the Dispatch follows up the editorial advocating for someone to try to attempt a deal with a news story that such an attempt as advocated by the Dispatch was tried, but labor walked away.  Not one time did they state that one of the most influential figures at the Dispatch just happens to be behind the effort to broker a deal and then the editorial lecturing labor to make such a deal.  It was all lies.  You might even call it yellow journalism.

Not since William Randolph Hearst and now Rupert Murdoch has a media outlet been more interested in making the news than reporting it.  It is more than just a story about a medial outlet having a political bias in its coverage of a story.  This is simply about a media outlet becoming the story.

This is  about a media outlet that lies about its role in creating the news and, in so doing, failing to disclose relevant evidence that puts that story in its proper context.

The truth is simple:  There was no offer from Governor Kasich.  There was an attempt by powerful people, Mike Curtin and Curt Steiner to try and avoid an issue that could cause lasting damage to the Republican Party in Ohio.  And when they, who had absolutely nothing to offer in the deal, didn’t get two labor leaders to immediately leap at the chance to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, they let loose the Dispatch on them.

The Dispatch just isn’t in the sewer for John Kasich.  On Sunday and all this week, they said they actually represent him in official government matters.

Newspapers were supposed to be truth tellers.  They were supposed to inform the people. They were supposed to be unbiased.  Those days are gone.

Now, they hack your tweets, listen to your phone messages, and make up news.

Shame on them.  Shame on us.

Ohio Diary #5: Help us drink to bring jobs to Ohio

I invite you to Ohio for a drink, on me.  No, we need your money too, so that we can bring jobs to Ohio. 

Kasich’s plan to finance his new JobsOhio, a privatized development agency, includes the leasing the state’s liquor stores to JobsOhio which is going to use the money for its day to day operations. But Kasich says this will work because Ohioans are increasing their alcohol consumption.  This type of scheme has not worked in other states, but Kasich doesn’t care. Privatize, Privatize is all that is important.

“Over the years people drink more. It’s just a natural revenue stream.” Kasich said last week. Ohio’s best natural asset is its liquor intake.  Let’s just increase Ohio’s drinking problem and drunkenness. As drunk as we may be, we still need your help in getting business to come to Ohio and that means jobs, jobs, jobs. 

As I am sitting here writing this post with a glass of beer in my hand, I have to ask myself the question: If Ohioans will be drinking more and drunkenness will rise, will we not be too drunk to work?  We’ve been drinking for sometime now, so you would think that jobs would be plentiful in Ohio.  Not true.  We have to get fall down drunk for jobs to come to Ohio.  I suspect that those over imbibing are the good, kind people that voted for Kasich.  When you don’t have a job, and there is not hope in finding one, you gotta do something. Drinking seems right.

Here is the joke.  In Ohio profits on liquor sales generates $228 million for the state every year. JobsOhio is set to take over liquor sales oversight and own that revenue stream.  They will sell 30 years worth of that revenue, worth $6.8 billion to a group of investors recruited by a Wall Street firm in return for a lump sum payment to the state. According to the administration, they expect to receive about $1.5 billion in return for this $6.8 billion in state revenue. Wall Street will naturally take their cut.  They will sell bonds to finance the deal. They will have a twenty to thirty year revenue stream for essentially zero money down.  Ohio faces billions in deficits, but Kasich is giving away liquor revenue to create jobs.

So I implore you to come to Ohio, help Ohioans drink into oblivion Since we will be to sloshed to work, maybe you can get luck and take our jobs, that is if you can find one.

It is just one more for the road. Or is it…drinking again?!!!


Ohio Diary #4: Ohio Republicans Reliving Their Anti-Union Past

No employer or labor organization shall deny or abridge the right to work by requiring membership or non-membership in, or payment or non-payment of money in, a labor organization as a condition of employment or continued employment in this state.  All agreements in conflict with this section are, to the extent of such conflict, unlawful and of no effect in this state.

These were the simple words on the Ohio ballot in 1958 that set off one of the most dividing political battles in all of Ohio history. After millions of dollars, a huge voter registration drive, and the onslaught of modern campaign techniques, “Right-to-Work” in Ohio was defeated by nearly one million votes, which at the time was one of the worst defeats for a ballot issue in Ohio’s history.  In that same election, C. William O’Neill, the golden boy who had been Speaker of the House and a three term attorney general before he was forty, also went down in a resounding defeat.  The Republican party lost everything that year.

Now, it seems that the republicans are determined to go down that path once again.  And once again it will result in abject failure, and total loss for the Republican party in Ohio.  They have pulled out all the stops and dirty tricks to pass S.B. 5 the anti-union bill.  They pulled not one but 2 senators from committees, who were opposed to the bill and replaced them with two who were in favor.  It must be remembered that these were republican senators opposed to the bill.  Done 30 minutes prior to the vote.  But as Ohio progressive blog Plunderbund states, Senate President Tom Niehaus [R] may have violated Senate rules by making the last-minute move:

Senate Rule 19 suggests the President of the Senate can change the makeup of a Committee, at will, but only by first issuing a Message [parliamentary term of art] that changes the membership. On the day of the vote, Niehaus issued no such message. He may issue one during the floor session, but that’s after the fact. There’s probably a parliamentary scramble to figure out if Niehaus’ replacement of Seitz complies with the Rules of the Senate.

It just gets stranger and stranger.  Now it seems that Senator Karen Gilmore may have been promised a chairmanship for her vote.  She was against the bill and publicly said so.  And then she changed her vote.  All republicans state that there have been no irregularities in regards to S.B. 5.

Republicans are trying to pass this legislation by April, so if there is a referendum, it will on the ballot in 2011 and not 2011.  There will be a referendum.  The machinery has already begun to move.  God bless Ohio law.  It has already been suggested by Ohio state representatives, that their consideration of this bill will take much longer.  Eventually, this will be in the hands of the people, where it belongs.  Just like 1958.

A large voter turnout in a general election is the Republicans’ worst nightmare.  The Republicans have screwed themselves, and as in 1958, they will be crushed in 2011 and 2012.  Turnout won’t be an issue. in fact, it will be a benefit. Turnout in off-year elections like 2011 will make it far easier for union voters, who will come out in huge numbers for this issue alone, to outweight the Republican voters who bother to come out.  Republicans forget there are Republicans that are union members, teachers, firefighters and police officers.  Their job and family’s well-being will also be put in jeopardy.

People will not forget what the Republican party has done, not just in Ohio but nationwide. If you don’t believe me, then check out the Republican National Committees web page.  There primary platform is to rid American of unions.

Republicans have awakened a sleeping dog, the Democrats.  At long last Democrats have begun to fight.


Unions Fail Their Members: Toothless Giants

In many parts of the world, organized labor is a force to be reckoned with in the streets and at the polls.  Not in the US.  Union leaders spend more time campaigning for candidates than defending worker’s rights.

The AFL-CIO embraced President Barack Obama and they celebrated Labor Day together, a scene unimaginable for the majority of union leaders and members of Europe. The closeness of major US labor union to the Democratic Party has co-opted many of them into ineffectiveness.

The protests in Wisconsin and Ohio and soon in other states are blatant examples of a toothless union.  These protests are grassroot events, not officially sanctioned by the labor unions.  In fact, labor unions are asking their members to return to work, rather than defend their rights long fought for.  The truth is if you want something different that what has been going on these past 30 years, then you have to move in a different direction rather than rolling with the dominant part.  Unions will more or less turn out the votes, give major donations but aren’t able to demand things they want.  Their members are left out in the cold.

Now the American worker is in the street. The biggest crises with unions in American now is the inability to organize workers because labor laws make it easy to fire or penalize workers for unionizing. Unions must be detached from politicians, yet be involved in policy to represent their workers.  Unions no longer fight for their workers.

Unions are dead as an influential force in workers rights. They have outlived their usefulness, or just simply lost their way.  Unions collect dues, spend $50 million of it dues and deploy 150,000 workers to support Obama with the hope that politicians will deliver workers rights.  Workers say that unions have failed to deliver on their promises, but in truth the unions never promised them anything.  Politicians did.  Now union members in the unenviable position of defending their rights.

Only now is the Obama administration beginning to send statements that they are in agreement with union members protecting in Wisconsin and Ohio.  But it begs the question….Are they doing this because they truly believe or simply appeasing the union membership to retain their votes in 2012?

We can all argue that state governments are making every effort to bust unions?  It is true.  This is a time for leaders of Labor unions need to join the fight with their workers.  Fight for the rights they have now, and future improvements. Union membership has been declining for years, because people understand union leadership hold workers rights as a sideshow.

Grassroots movement is showing the future of the labor movement in two ways: One is the importance of fighting on the basis of workplace issues and making sure that people at the grassroots, the rank and file level, have a voice in those unions. Second: the importance of social unions, social movement unionism, one that sees not just the interests of workers at a particular workplace as the only thing that unions should defend, but realizing the ties and connections that bring together the interests not only of the workplace.

Wisconsin and Ohio may be our “Egypt.”  If it true, that would mean clean out the Union Leadership house.  Unions of the past are dead.  It is up to the membership to fight.  They probably will lose, but they must fight.

Protests and civil disobedience is a healthy sign in this country, but to win, we must take our government back.


Diary of Ohio #1

There seem to be a lot of cry babies in Ohio.  Just this past week they have cried and cried.  Used to be that Republicans were more subtle about their racism.  He says he wants to work with everyone who is willing to tackle the state’s problems.  It probably means  that as long as they agree with him, then he has use for you.  Tell me it ain’t so Lord John!

Just this past week the criers were out in force.  Lord John was going to have a all white cabinet, and that made them all cry.  Is is racism or is it or a different diversity than most expect? What is diversity?  Does it just mean color, race, sex and political affiliation, or does it mean new ideas, fresh thinking and hope for the future? Must we always be politically correct? 

Senator Nina Turner [D-OH] should know better.  She lacked the courage to confront him face to face and ASK what the Govenor mean when he said “I don’t want your people.”  She should have used all her alleged leadership qualities at the time of the Gov. comment to get the difinition of what he meant. Instead, she screamed racism and used the color card?  The truth is that Ohians regrettfully eleceted that state Governor.  The Governor will select the most qualified cabinet members based on their abilities and experience.  Qualifications should have nothing to do with the color of your skin.  The Declaration of Independence list no  exclusions: 

             We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Libeerty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institue new Government…..

Kasich ran on a simple platform: things suck, let’s change. The system is broke. We need someone to come fix things.  Most of Ohioians believed that lie.  Now we are going to pay the price.  He told us we need a new way.   We hear only the old way.  Remember Ken Blackwell?  Same song different man different color.  Kasich will scream “I am not a racist. Some of my friends may be, but i am not.” Senator Turner should know that you do not fight racism with racism.  We must not be like him. Let him bury himself.  I fear for my state and the policies or the lack thereof of this Republican Governor. 

I am tired of the cry babies.  I am tired of the people who will not lend their efforts to turn this state blue again.  I am tired of the big ideas and the small brains.
