Ohio Diary #18: The Republican Party is No More

I may be one of the most hated people in Ohio.  If today is any indication, I am truly despised.  Why?  I was  relentless in my disgust, opposition and repudiation of everything republican.  Not for what they stand for, since they stand for nothing; with the exception of bigotry, racism, hatred and lying, but  because I was right.   But I am again wandering off message.  Then again, maybe not.

Thank Ohio for the end of the republican party.  I know, Obama got lots of other electoral votes, but it was Ohio that put the dagger in the heart of the republican party.  It ended their lives as they know it.  All their bluster that night and before, that it would be a landslide for Romney and that Ohio would go red was put asunder Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 11:15 p.m.  Now, you might ask how is it the end of the republican party?  Karl Rove had nervous apoplexy on Fox News and demanded that they take it back.  Their lives were over.  As the evening went on, my reaction was “let them have Ohio now if they want it.  It won’t help, and we still win.”

I’ve heard my republican friends today say “it is pathetic that a republican can’t republican  Ohio, Florida and Michigan.”  They still don’t get it.  They ran a candidate who lacked character, honesty, policy, communication,  He exuded hatred and racism.  That was his message to his faithful and they bought it by the barrel.  They couldn’t get enough.  You just can’t come to Ohio or Michigan and tell them that his plan was to let the auto industry go bankrupt. That Jeep was moving its entire operation to China and expect to get their votes.  He truly thought that those words would endear Ohio to him and carry him over the top.  Rove spent $430 million dollars to spread that message of lies and hate.  Ohio hated him right back, and it hurt.  Romney and Rove are the poster boys for everything that is wrong and evil in the republican party.

Read the conservative blogs or watch if you can bear it Fox and all you see is desperate cry babies.  You could say as Maureen Dowd did that Romney won the election, he is president.  Of a limited number of white people.  Everyone else voted Obama.  The repugnicans lost everything they wanted.  And cry they are.  Most of all they lost because they had nothing to offer.  They committed suicide and screamed rape and murder.

I am one of the 47%.  That video was his ultimate betrayal.  He plunged the tagger straight into his own heart.  They condemn the use of “identity politics” only because they themselves have no identity.  Romney didn’t know who was.  Near they end he pretended to be a democrat, only to get votes.  Even that didn’t help.  The 47% comment was crucial because republicans can not identify with everyday Americans.  They do not know what that means.  Romney and the republicans avoided social issues.  They went silent.  Latinos and blacks overwhelming share social values as do women and the middle-class Americans.  The moderate GOP has avoided it for years.  They could not or would not attract minorities or women with social values.  They in fact drove them away.  They will never reach minorities short of becoming democrats themselves.  It is the reason they underestimated Ohio.  It is why they lost Ohio.  It is why Ohio ended the republican party.  The party is in shambles, a shell of itself and bleeding all over itself.  Can’t you hear them cry?  They were doomed by their hatred and prejudice.  Their violence against women in the name of ending abortion is perversion.  Their stench of superiority over the common man has turned their party into a sewer.  It is why they lost.  It is why they will always lose.  It is why they are are no more.

I guess we were must too smart.

Ohio Diary #17: Turn Out The Vote – Prove Ohio Isn’t All Racist

The day is almost here.  If you haven’t voted early, do it now.  Get out the vote.

Now you may say Ohio isn’t racist not just Ohio but Florida, Pennsylvania and all other red states.  Voter suppression is racist.  They know if they can keep democrats from the polls they will win the election.  Over these many months we have been “informed” by the press and media about the “horse race” with no real discussion of policy and racism.  Like television, they are only interested in entertainment and not knowledge.  Selling newspapers is so much more important.

Hatred and racism is the hallmark of the republican party.  It is what they do best.  They have told so many lies that that believe them to be fact.  So many lies that it has shown itself for what it truly is……….Racist.  It is not new and we should already know this.  It is only now more obvious.  A black man is President, living in the Whitehorse.  Billboards in poor and black neighborhoods, lies about voter ID and then there is Trick the Vote [ True the Vote].  True the Vote is an oxymoron for republicans.  For them there is no truth in the voting process.  They promised to follow the Constitution and then pervert it.  They say they are Christians, but speak hatred and racism.  Hypocrites and contradictory positions.  New Left Media said it best:

Well, perhaps the capacity to hold so many contradictory beliefs at once reflects the fact that the public school curriculum has become solely oriented around series of standardized tests, robbing a large portion of our citizenry (among other things) of the capacity for critical thinking skills. Or maybe it is because the internet has enabled people to exist in completely different social and political realities wherein they seek out and find only the type of information that will confirm their pre-existing worldviews. Or maybe it’s because local media has essentially collapsed and the mainstream media, interested less in delivering the news than in acting as faithful defenders of the status quo, is unable to effectively help the public to thoroughly vet the Republican nominee.

The republicans are not meant to think.  Just follow.  So, it is time to get out the vote.  We can stand in line for hours to get into a football game, so we can stand and wait to vote.  Your vote is so much important.  Don’t get tricked.  Stand up for all of us, women, the poor, the middle-class!!!!!  We need to make American proud of herself.

Ohio Diary #16: Local Newspaper: Speaking Out Column

Today in my local newspaper, the speak-up column was on contraception.  You will find that in at least one comment, their ignorance shows.  They think this is about abortion and not healthcare.  I will reserve my comments for the end of this post:

http://digital.olivesoftware.com/Olive/ODE/SpringfieldNewsSun/?href=SNS/2012/02/11

At this link you can read these comments for yourself.  I will post a few and comment at the end.

Present Obama’s attack on Christians on the healthcare issue is just another example of his disregard for the Constitution.  It is not a doormat to be trampled on. It is to be respected and used properly.  Eight years of this man would devastate our republic.

Please help stop the hysteria and propaganda.  Someone needs to clarify to the public that allowing access to or providing coverage for birth-control products in the new healthcare bill does not force anyone to use the products.  It only offers coverage and lets women have a choice.  The word “force” is being used loosely to incite anger and fear. Let’s get the argument to the realities.

It’s a step backward for women’s rights.  Why should these places be able to impose their religious on their employees?  They don’t want women to use birth control to prevent an unwanted pregnancy, but they don’t want them to have an abortion to end it either.

I think employers should offer birth control coverage. Birth control is fairly expense and, without coverage, a lot women can’t afford it.  The women affected by this decision are the ones who are being responsible by preventing “unwanted” pregnancies. These same religious organizations and emplyers are generally against abortions, but they don’t want to offer an acceptable solution, which would be birth control coverage……..

It is not the coverage for the “birth control” that is the issue  It’s the wording within this that also allows it to cover abortion and abortion-related measures.  They should not be forced by the government by any means whatsoever.

The way this has been conflated on the right to mean “Obama is forcing Catholic schools to give out condoms and provide abortions” has been pretty hilarious to watch….

I hope the U.S. Supreme Court does hear the case and puts an end to it, once and for all. Precedent is on the side of me being able to access healthcare and decide when and if I want to have more children.  Sorry religious conservatives, but my body belongs to me. You may not like it, but I have the right to have sex and not conceive.

The Catholic Bishops and The Catholic Church consider contraception to be immoral.  We do have to respect some matters of conscience.  Their argument that Boenher has jumped on is that this is a violation of the First Amendment, Freedom of Religion.  It is ludicrous.  No one is saying you have lost your right to worship, lost your religion, or that the government has instituted one central religion.  The Bishops mistake was to include all women and not just the Catholics is this objection.  They have no right to speak for me.  It doesn’t apply to churches themselves or their devotion arms.  It applies to religious enterprises like hospitals and university that serve secular purposes, take taxpayer dollars, employ thousands of non-catholic women, and are already required to obey many and varied secular regulations.  At these organizations, the money that pays for employee healthcare doesn’t come the

church, it comes out of the income stream they get from their customers and clients

.  This is not about religious freedom, it is as David Boise stated on The Last Word, this is about labor laws.

The Bishops took on this fight  on behalf of all women and they have lost.  We should celebrate.  These Bishops and their supporters, who probably use contraception, should be ashamed.

Ohio Diary #14: Ohio Takes Its Revenge

Last night Ohio screamed out loud not just to Republicans here, but all over the country.  It was a defeat for the Republican whores who wanted to line their pockets on the backs of the middle-class.  For almost a year now, Kasich thought he was in control.  So much so that he lied about Issue 2 [SB5].  He blamed the budget deficit on working people.  They are greedy, selfish, and lazy people.  Like all Republicans, they refuse to take any blame for the troubles.

This was not in truth an issue of Democrats versus Republicans.  It was about what was right and what was wrong. Public workers should not be the scapegoats for economic problems.  This defeat is stunning in the regard that even Republicans were against it.  69% voted against, and they weren’t all Democrats.  Kasich still didn’t listen.  He lied to his own party.  He did not do it alone.  He had help from his pimps, the Republican National Committee and the Columbus Dispatch.  They both told the same lies over and over again.  Kasich like all Republican governors and legislators became appeasers.

An appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile hoping he will be the last man eaten.  Winston Churchill

The Republican National Committee, Republican fascist, racist governors and legislators thought they spoke for the people, bestowing rights on them they already had.  They want to exclude all of us and deny us our rights and freedoms, while at the same time saying they are giving them to us.

The arrogance of these Republicans.  They tried to steal from the working man.  They will continue to do so unless we stop as we did in Ohio.  They want to cut Medicare and Medicaid.  They call the “entitlements“.  Entitlements my left foot.  I paid into it as did my employer.  The government does not just give it me.  I paid into it.  It is my money and I want it.  They make it sound as if it is a gift given to the people from government.  It is not!!!!  I am not to blame for their borrowing money from me.  I am not responsible for the government not paying that money back.  The money is mine and I intend to get as much as I paid into it back.

The fact is that Issue 2 here was a fight by Republicans against so-called “entitlements”.  Real people pay into pensions, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.  They worked for it and paid for it, and are owed it.  Not as a gift but as a right.  Think of the interest owed on the load from social security and medicare?  I paid for it and I want my money.

Today Ohio gave America hope.  If you fight you can win.  If you are right you can win.  It is a mighty day for the poor and oppressed.

Ohio Diary #13: Kasich Bill SB 5 Gains Racist Support

Thanks to Plunderbund.com  for this.  It says it all.

SB5 and Better Ohio pick up support from racist twitter user

Guess who loves Senate Bill 5 and Building a Better Ohio?

This guy:

Ohio Diary #12: Rep. Jim Jordan

A little group of willful men, representing no opinion but their own, have rendered the great government of the United States helpless and contemptible.
Woodrow Wilson

Rep. Jim Jordan said that he knows what the American people want.  It is lower federal spending and a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.  Yes indeed.   No mention of jobs, jobs, and more jobs.  “Americans understand you’ve got to live within your means. They want it done smart and they want it done in a fair way,” Jordan said.  And, then in his best JFK impersonation, said “the nation may be reaching a John  F. Kennedy moment, where it is time for people to ask not what their country can do for them, but what they can do for their country.”  He said what, and quoted who?

I am shocked, just shocked, that he pretends to know what the people want.  The people he speaks about are corporations.  And yes he and his fellow repubtards know what they want.  Since the Supreme Court told us that Corporations are people too, then I want to be a corporation.  I am a person.  We should all become corporations, get huge tax cuts, pay no taxes,  give myself a huge pay increase, and have powerful friends in Congress who will give me anything want.

But what really disgusts me is that Jordan, Boehner , good caring, compassionate Ohioans is that they presume to speak for the people.  They talk about the American people as he they belonged to them. When they find out that the American people don’t think they do, they just simply lose interest in the American people.  They don’t remember the working man or the middle class. They used to defend the middle class, at least at times.  The American people turned into organized labor and they don’t love us any more.  They talk about giving us our rights, as if they could make a gift of liberty.  The arrogance of these little,  little men.  The underprivileged, the middle class has turned on them.  They now believe that everyone is out to ruin the rich mans paradise.

America was established not to create wealth but to realize a vision, to realize an ideal – to discover and maintain liberty among men.
Woodrow Wilson

I want my corporation.

Ohio Diary #11: The Columbus Dispatch’s Fake News: Kasich Wants To Negotiate SB 5

First you must never trust your local newspaper or TV channel.  They will only tell you one side of the story, or as in the Columbus Dispatch story; just make it up.

I must tell you that there was a time, a very long time ago, that the Columbus Dispatch was an excellent newspaper.  They printed the facts and told it from both points of view.  Now, it seems that their political bias is more important.

All this past week, the Dispatch has been running a story of how regrettable and unfortunate it is that labor won’t sit down and try to work out a comprise on
Senate Bill 5.  Senate Bill 5 is the anti-union, anti-collective bargaining bill that has been passed, and signed by the Governor.  It is has yet to be implemented because it is to be on the November ballot to repealed.  It is a story designed to present Kasich as willing to compromise but labor as unbending and unyielding.  It is a fake.

Here is what the Dispatch Editorial said:

On Sunday, a Dispatch editorial called for proponents and opponents of Senate Bill 5 to reach a compromise that would require public employees to pay more for their health care and pensions but would strip away the bill’s provisions that aren’t related to controlling government costs.

Yesterday, sources told Dispatch reporters that informal discussions between two people affiliated with the defense of Senate Bill 5 and representatives from the Ohio Education Association and the AFL-CIO took place about six weeks ago, but labor backed away.

On Sunday the Dispatch’s editorial page said the offer came from Governor Kasich, but the news division subtly backed away and said it was two people affiliated with the defense of Senate Bill 5.  They weren’t from the Governor’s office after all.  It explains why labor wouldn’t consider talking to them.  Who were these two people negotiating?  How did the editorial board seem to know about this so-called deal before the newsroom? It is very simple…because the Dispatch essentially was one of the people representing pro-SB 5 interests at the meeting.  Mike Curtin, former Vice-Chairman of the Dispatch Printing Company and Curt Steiner, former OSU lobbyist, former Voinovich chief-of-staff pushed the “We Are Ohio” campaign on the possibility of working out a deal with Kasich to avoid having to have a referendum issue.

What could they promise to the unions?  They have no authority to negotiate a deal that requires the involvement of the GOP legislature and Kasich.  It was an attempt to make the unions and the “We Are Ohio” campaign look unreasonable.  It was an imaginary story.  All in the minds of Curtin and Steiner.

But guess what?  Kasich played along.  He held an alleged” negotiation meeting yesterday, and  no one showed up.   There sat Kasich and his aides, all of three people, and no one came.  Taking his lead from the Dispatch, he assailed the unions for refusing to negotiate a deal on SB 5.

In a letter from We Are Ohio to the Governor, they simply stated that they would not negotiate until the bill in its current form was repealed.  They urged the Governor to call the legislature back and repeal the law.

This is a publicity stunt on Kasich’s part.  He is trouble, polls show him in the toilet and sinking fast.  He has seen what has gone on in Wisconsin and is afraid as he should be.  He is a beggar.  He had a chance to meet with the unions in February, when the bill was being debated.  Kasich outright refused to meet with unions six months ago.  Kasich has said: “I’ve listened. I’ve heard. I’ve made a decision.” That was the end of it.  Until now that is.

Kasich is now the ludicrous spectacle that he deserves to be.  He was negotiating with himself.  He had help though.

Kasich’s arrogance shows through with this blatant attempt to attack unions and weaken support for the Democratic party.  He did not do this by himself. He had partisan support of members of the house and senate. They are equally responsible for being sheep and blindly following their leader down the path to destruction.

Back to the Columbus Dispatch.  The Dispatch tried to broker a deal on SB 5. Then the Dispatch follows up the editorial advocating for someone to try to attempt a deal with a news story that such an attempt as advocated by the Dispatch was tried, but labor walked away.  Not one time did they state that one of the most influential figures at the Dispatch just happens to be behind the effort to broker a deal and then the editorial lecturing labor to make such a deal.  It was all lies.  You might even call it yellow journalism.

Not since William Randolph Hearst and now Rupert Murdoch has a media outlet been more interested in making the news than reporting it.  It is more than just a story about a medial outlet having a political bias in its coverage of a story.  This is simply about a media outlet becoming the story.

This is  about a media outlet that lies about its role in creating the news and, in so doing, failing to disclose relevant evidence that puts that story in its proper context.

The truth is simple:  There was no offer from Governor Kasich.  There was an attempt by powerful people, Mike Curtin and Curt Steiner to try and avoid an issue that could cause lasting damage to the Republican Party in Ohio.  And when they, who had absolutely nothing to offer in the deal, didn’t get two labor leaders to immediately leap at the chance to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, they let loose the Dispatch on them.

The Dispatch just isn’t in the sewer for John Kasich.  On Sunday and all this week, they said they actually represent him in official government matters.

Newspapers were supposed to be truth tellers.  They were supposed to inform the people. They were supposed to be unbiased.  Those days are gone.

Now, they hack your tweets, listen to your phone messages, and make up news.

Shame on them.  Shame on us.

A special thanks to Plunderbund for part of this story.

Ohio Diary #9: John Boehner Had A Choice: His Job or His Country

He couldn’t decided and did nothing.  Being the coward and gutless wonder that he is, what else would you expect.  John Boehner and House Republicans truly believe that controlling one chamber of the Congress should get them everything they want.  So what happens?  A member of the chamber of the Congress, the Senate, rescued John Boehner from having to put his speakership on the line.  It is stunning.  I never thought that I would ever sing the praises of Senator Mitch McConnell, but today I just can’t help myself.

Why?  McConnell had the good sense to finally tell the truth.  Something that Boehner is just incapable of doing.  His job and position is just so more important. McConnell gave Boehner a parachute, as MSNBC called it.  It provides an escape for the Speaker, since he can’t seem to decide or figure out which pledge to ask his members to break – the 1-to-1 ratio of deficit reduction to debt ceiling raise or not raising taxes.  The grand bargain that Republicans promised in 2010 is not quite DEAD. He just couldn’t stand up and court a rebellion against his leadership or push the country toward default on its debt.

Boehner remained conspicuously silent.  He looked in the mirror and saw Gingrich in 1995.  Two government shutdowns that he hoped would win huge  and deep spending cuts – and not tax increases from a Democratic President.  They were trying to do the same thing now.  Remember, the Republicans held the majority of both chamber of Congress.  They committed political suicide them and they are about to do it again.

There was a time, a very long time ago, when I might have felt bad for Crying John, if he and his grand old party had not shamelessly fueled the Tea Party and kissed their ring to win power.  The House Republican Tea Party is endangering Crying John.

The House Republican Tea Party talk about the people, how they care so much for them.  The truth is, the only time they really care about the people is when they look down to see who they are stepping on.   Republicans in the House have tied their future to the Tea Party.  They are about to hang themselves and call it murder.

Crying John  should have a good cry.  Or maybe he need a new light bulb, an energy-efficient light bulb. Oh wait.  Boehner is against light bulb tyranny.

John Boehner is not good at his job.  A leader with no one to lead.  He should be afraid.  I can hear “Happy Trails To You.”

Ohio Diary #8: First Amendment Case In Cincinnati For Man Who ‘Barked’ At Dog

Can Prosecutor Bethany Bennett prove that barking at a police dog constitutes “fighting words?”  She sure enough is going to try,.  She believes she can win using that argument to persuade a judge from dismissing a charge against Ryan Stephens on free speech grounds.

Stephens, 25, faces up to 60 days in jail if convicted on the charge of barking at the police dog.  His lawyer is going to argue that he is entitled to free speech, and that his actions are protected by the First Amendment.

Prosecutor Bennett said:

The defendant’s words and actions were clearly intended to, and had the direct result of, causing great distress to the trained police dog.

According to the First Amendment, fighting words, are an exception to the free speech rights because the expressions are likely to “a clear and present danger” and could incite someone to into breaking the law.  It begs the obvious question:  How could the police dog, in a police car, break the law?

She goes on to explain: That it was a clear and present danger to the police dog who was trying vehemently  to exit the car, and was a danger to anyone trying to enter the police car, and a danger to anyone outside the car if the door or window had been opened.  Interesting.  The police officer testified that the window was open.  The police dog made no attempt to break the law. He stayed inside his vehicle.

The police officer, Brad Walker said his dog, Timber, was known to bark for no apparent reason, sometimes when people got near the cruiser. “It’s a dog.  He barks when he wants to.”  That was his testimony Thursday.

You can only wonder what this woman must be thinking.  Does she see it as a metaphor for the way women are treated.  Second-class, non-human entities.  Enough with taking away women’s rights.  We’ve had Weiner, Vitter and Gingrich so why not a dog.  She would be better to go after the real dogs, rapists, and take away not just their first amendment rights, but all their rights.  Lock them away.  Do it before raping becomes legal, as so many states are trying to do.  Besides, the police dog could not possibly break the law without his handlers help.  He can’t open doors or roll down the windows. She is a new prosecutor trying to make a name for herself.  I am not sure that she is going to like what they will call her.  Taxpayers money used to prosecute a man for barking like a dog at a dog.  Good for the body politic.

I for one find this ludicrous.  My dog and I bark at each other all the time when we play.  He has yet to become a danger to anyone.  He has not, as of yet, broken the law.  Does the police dog or my dog not have first amendment rights?  Any dog for that matter, I mean the four-legged kind.  Why not charge the dog?  He did not have to bark back.

Consider this a warning:  If in Cincinnati or Mason, Ohio don’t bark like a dog.  You could lose your first amendment rights.

Had Stephens barked and hissed at the Police Office, Mr. Walker, it would not have been considered criminal conduct.

It seems that dogs have more rights than people.

We will find out in July, when Judge Andrew Batsche is expected to issue a ruling.

Ohio Diary #7: Labor in Ohio Slapped Around Again

It was announced on Friday by Reuters that the great golf foursome was complete for Obama-Boehner golf game.  Vice President Biden will join Obama, and John Boehner will have Gov. John  Kasich.

One would think that the point of this outing was to get somewhere on some of the big issues facing the country.  Say the budge deal or the debt-ceiling.  But nooooo.

Obama should have said no to Boehner when he said he was going to invite Kasich.  What could he be thinking?  Obama’s people should have said no.  How could they every think that this would be a good idea.  To tell people that this is just going to be a friendly game of golf, and that issues would not be discussed borders on insanity.  Kasich has nothing to offer to the conversation.  His approval rating is pitiful.  The fact that Kasich is despised by every single union member in Ohio regardless of party membership in Ohio will hurt Obama in 2012.

Why give Kasich the national stage?  Why make him a star?  Here is a man that is braking unions, destroying education, sending tax dollars for Charter Schools to Turkey, who say they can’t find qualified teachers for their schools in Ohio, is one huge giant slap in the face for labor and all of us who worked for Obama in Ohio.

It is a big win for Kasich, who will proclaim that he gave advice to Obama on how he, Kasich, balanced the budget in Ohio on the backs of unions, teachers, the poor, and gave money to the rich.  He just can’t lose.  Obama on the other hand will come out looking like an idiot.  How can you condemn SB 5, and turn around and act as if it doesn’t matter what has happened to unions and education?

Obama’s people need to get their act together again.  They are in the big time now, and they need to remember how to use their power to do politics and win.  In 2010 the unions sat aside, stayed home, and then Gov. Strickland lost.  Ohio is important.  If Obama isn’t careful, the same thing will happen to him.

The so-called rabble is mad and this could send them over the edge.  Go OHIO!!!!!!!
