“Truth is Treason”

In a free society we’re supposed to know the truth,” Paul said. “In a society where truth becomes treason, then we’re in big trouble. And now, people who are revealing the truth are getting into trouble for it.”

Now I know this quote is a couple of years old, and about Wiki leaks, but somehow it applies here as it concerns The Rat and The Roach[okay,[Romney and Ryan].  They have sent the Stooge out again.  Just look at what they have her saying now after VP Joe Biden’s truthful comments.  You could say they were a little strong, but they were the truth.  There is just no use kidding ourselves what Rat/Roach really wants for America.  When he stands and looks out at his supporters and the real American public he sees not working America, he sees criminals that need to be punished with more taxes and poverty.  He sees dangerous parasites and leeches preparing to strike at the heart and soul of the Great American System that put them where they are now.   More about this later, now back to the Stooge, aka Andrea “Stooge”Saul.
What was so terrible about what Vice President Biden said:
They’ve said it.  Every Republican’s voted for it.  Look at what they they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing.  Romney wants to let the — he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street,” Biden said.  “They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing.”
Republicans have spoken for these 2 years and more to the need to “unshackle” the private sector from regulations.  Mind you the private sector, meaning the citizens, working class families, women, blacks, illegal immigrants, immigrants, and poor people remain shackled to high taxes, joblessness, and poverty.
Their record speaks for itself:  the war on women, voter suppression, personhood bills, heartbeat bills and you see the compulsion to return women, blacks and immigrants to lives of slavery, chained and shackled to the whims of white rich men.
And the Stooge response:
After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Gov. Romney, the Obama campaign has reached a new low, the Stooge said. The commends made by the vice president of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama campaign will say and do anything to win this election.
When Obama backed Biden the Stooge said:
In case anyone was wondering just how low President Obama could go in his campaign for reelection, we now know he’s willing to say that Governor wants to put people back in chains, Whether it’s accusing Mitt Romney of being a felon, having been responsible for a woman’s tragic death or now wanting to put people in chains, there’s no question that because of the president’s failed record he’s been reduced to a desperate campaign based on division and demonization.
Felon?  The Rat did that to himself.  Won’t release tax returns, so he must be hiding something he doesn’t want anyone to know.  Responsible for a woman’s tragic death?  I didn’t hear that.  It said no health insurance to help his wife during this illness.  He lost his job thanks to the Rat.  She, herself said:
“If people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care,” said Saul
All the Rat/Roach campaign can do is lie.  If they were even remotely to consider telling the truth it would be treason.  Truth is something that the Republican party has no interest in. They are incapable of doing so.    Hubris.  Narcissism.
I for one am so tired of their self-serving, self-indulgent, selfish and self-righteous outrage and lies.  They have no comprehension of what the truth is.  The Rat just lies.  It is what the Rat does every day of his life, on purpose, as a matter of policy, and a perfect expression of everything he stands for.

Racism In Pursuit of Victory

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.

Barry Goldwater, 1964 Republican National Convention at San Francisco, California

Immediately following making that statement in his acceptance speech, he was dismissed as a racist by the entire country.  He lost the election in dramatic fashion .  His own party branded him not only a racist, but a destroyer of the party.  That all changed in that year and in 1965.  He was no longer a racist, but was becoming a hero.

This same party has taken that creed and built up on it.  Goldwater and Nixon are now perceived as moderates now, compared to Reagan, Bush I and Bush II.  They learned their lessons well.  The Republican party has become a party of  usurpers and destroyers.

It was done simple by a stroke of a pen in 1964 and 1965.  It was the beginning of their destruction  and evil.  The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 gave Republicans the “Solid South”.  It once again opened the door to hatred and racism on a scale not seen since the Civil War.  The South was ready and able.  They were outraged that their rights to lynch and call blacks “niggers” was being infringed upon.  The Republicans played their race card, and what was once a Democratic stronghold now turned and became Republicans.

We call it now the “Southern Strategy”.  That phrase is an old Nixon line used by his political  strategist Kevin Phillips. In an interview in a 1970 New York Times article, he touched on its essence:

From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don’t need anymore than that… but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act.  The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That’s where the votes are.  Without the prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.

They sought to polarize ethnic voting in general, and not just to win the white South, but the South was by far the biggest prize.  The Republican party pandered to the Bible Belt, every Sunday go to meeting whites and told them we feel your pain.  The good Baptists of the South joined the new religion.  Republicans candidates began expressing support for states’ rights, a code of opposition to federal enforcement of civil rights for blacks and intervention on their behalf.  This strategy worked for Nixon in 1968 and for Reagan in 1980.

President Lyndon B. Johnson said it best in 1965:

I am signing away the south for 50 years.

It proved to be accurate.  The Democrats have never recovered the vote of the white racists in the South.

This should all sound new and to some familiar.  We have all watched the Republicans since the 2010 election.  Correction since the 2008 election.  They have perfected this strategy and the states with Republican power now, have moved forward the agenda.  Only this time the Republicans include everyone.  Many people in America have been wearing blinders so as not see that it is repeating itself.  It was clear not long President Obama’s election.  The famous line by Senator Mitch McConnell said it all:

The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.

This was and is the priority of the Republican party for 2008-2010 and now 2012.  They have deliberately not legislated.   They have made no  to effort to work on the people’s business. Appropriation bills not passed.   Racism is the religion.  The so-called  Religious Right no longer has any influence.  Their mission is solely  to return blacks and Hispanics  to their slave status, take the voting rights away and to return women to their place of sexual objects.  If you are not white and a man, you will be thrown out.  You have no control over your person and all your rights rescinded.    It is patriotic to be white.  Be proud to be white and American.  That is their message.

They also hope that we will forget.  That we won’t remember the war on women, making voter id laws, heartbeat bills, Governor Vagina and  Dr. Cooch.  They hope that we will be more interested in the Olympics and gold medals to remember how they have violated all of us.  They realize that the only way for Willard “The Rat” Romney to have any chance, is to not allow the majority of voters the right to vote.

There is an email floating around, at least here in Ohio, with parts of a transcript from Michael Richards defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act.

There are African-Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans etc.  And then there are just Americans.

It is being sent out by Republicans with the last line reading:

Be Proud to Be White and American!

So now if you are African-American, Greek American, Irish American, Jewish American, German American, Italian American, etc. you aren’t white and you are not American.  Imagine it, you are born in America, your heritage is Greek or Irish etc., but you are not American and certainly not white.  Therefore, you have no right to vote.  Enough is enough.

It is time to remember, it is time, especially women, to rise up and show them who has power in this country.  It is time to show so-called white men who has control over their bodies and their country.  Take it back.  Fight.

I am as mad as hell, and I am not going to take it anymore.

Wayne La Pierre Breaks N.R.A. Silence

In are  response to comments and urging of a number of Republicans Senators and Representatives Wayne La Pierre, leader of the N.A.R. has issued the following statement:

The Second Amendment is the center piece of freedom and American values.  We are the longest standing Civil Rights organization in the United States.  We fight for your freedom.  If you must fight, don’t lose.  Good guys carrying guns can and do make a difference.  The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.  You can’t tell the difference between the lions and the lambs.  I am defending and protecting your right to purchase the largest clip and rounds of bullets that are presently available.  Therefore, today I am announcing that we, the N.R.A. will begin a new membership drive in all states, and readily available to all.  We soon will be setting up N.R.A. kiosks outside all movie theaters, and stadiums to add new members and educate the people to the importance of high capacity magazines and assault rifles.  We want them to discover that like Wyatt Earp, they too can enjoy their version of the gunfight at the OK Corral, Batman movie or any other venue they choose.  Stadiums are even better since attendance there is huge.  We want as many bodies riddled with bullets as possible.

He then went on to reiterate his comments from May, 2012, as reported by The Onion, http://www.theonion.com/articles/nra-sets-1000-killed-in-school-shooting-as-amount,28352/?ref=auto.  As they apply to “soft-targets etc.  I was impressed with his passion for higher body counts.  He continued:

Government policies are killing us.  In response, along with my previous statement, we are planning to be the “bookmobile: for assault weapons and ammunition, as much as you want.  There are those who say the I have the charisma of an unflushed toilet.  I do not fear them.  Our future is bright and bloody.  I will not stop protecting our civil rights and freedom.

This will only end when they take my assault rifle from my blood drenched, dripping hand.

It Is About the Guns

Assault weapons ban does not violate the Second Amendment.  There is no prior claim that laws preventing citizens from buying weapons that fire 30 or more bullets without reloading violates the Second Amendment.  Even the most conservative judges hold that the Second Amendment was meant to protect state militias and not individual gun owners.  Banning any possession of handguns by citizens , even in the home, is the only law so far the Supreme Court has held that violates the Second Amendment.

The Right will tell you that “hunting rifles” those assault weapons, are for their personal protection.  That it is about defending themselves against the government. They consider the government more and more a threat each and everyday.   Would the Supreme Court uphold that the Second Amendments protects citizens owning plutonium, to defend themselves against nuclear attack?  Weapons are weapons.  Defending ourselves from tyranny is the justification.  Protecting ourselves, the great American value, but so was slavery.  Their argument is ludicrous.

American public has been conditioned to belief that their communities and country are more dangerous than they really are by their local news, television and other media.  Hate, violence and intolerance do well on television.  We are all watching television and being pumped full of fear.  Mostly against blacks and Latinos.  It is always the lead part of the story, ” a black man with a gun” or “a black or Latino man with a gun”.  Never, a white man with a gun.  Conditioned to fear blacks and Latinos.  The Black and Latino communities have become entertainment for the rest of society. Their response is guns and more guns.  Guns that can fire more bullets than can be imagined.  I must protect myself.  If more guns make you safer, then American would be the safest place in the world.

The simple truth is that no one wants to ban all guns.  But is it really so unreasonable to ask that it be made more difficult for individuals to buy assault weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition?  They even call themselves Christians.  The Sixth Commandment says “Thou shalt not kill” period.  It does not say thou shalt not kill unless I am “protecting” myself.  Just thou shalt not kill.  They call it personal protection.   The argument is stupid.  They want you to believe that Stalin lives in American if gun control was enacted.  Their fear is purposeful.  It gives them the right to kill at will.  They call it “ patriotism“.  They need to do better.

We all need to do better.  We must come together and find a way to actually protect our country, our citizens and ourselves without resorting to Constitutional murder.

I don’t pretend to know the answer.  I only know that to stop good citizens and mad men from killing innocents we must do something.  American can no longer continue on the path that if you don’t agree with me I will shot you dead with a hundred bullets.

Hell Yes I am Un-American, Again

I am proud to be UN-American.  If being a good American means spreading terror, hatred, poverty, racism then hell yes I am UN-American. If being a good American means curtailing the freedoms of religion, association, speech then hell yes I am UN-American.  If as a country we find it right to brutalize, condemn unions, communists, Mexicans, Arabs, gays, peace activists and Blacks, if we find it right to detain them, fire them, illegally search them and even kill them simply because we are told they are the people we should fear, then hell yes, I am UN-American.    It isn’t easy being UN-American.   It take courage.  It takes  principle.  It takes reason.

Our history is filled with examples of courage conquering fear and hatred.  Now, I know these good Americans have no concept of history, what it means, what it is, and make it up as they go.  We survived the dust bowl, presidential assassinations, church bombings, lynchings and war.  We believed in the Constitution and what it represents.  These good Americans are cowards.  They pretend to revere the values and principles that the Constitution guarantees, the very things this country was built on.  Instead, they are blatant with their cowardice and spineless and eagerly trash sacred principle as a road to fear.  They see the Constitution as nothing more than a piece of paper that they can use only when it serves their purpose.  Just a talking point.  They find it American to take away freedoms and rights.

I have been here before.  Maybe some of you have too.  During the Viet Nam war, I/we were called UN-American, un-patriotic, communists and told to love it or leave it.  They even killed four in OHIO.  Their fear and hatred took over, they lost their reason, forgot the Constitution and reviled all of us.  Pathetically, after many years, these good Americans, Democrats and Republicans, began to look like us and talk like us.  We weren’t nuts any more.  Amazingly, they too were now UN-American.

It is a simple truth that when good Americans  judge people on the basis of where they come from, how they look, how they speak, what their religion is, gay or lesbian, black or white, it is terrorism.  Terrorism turns them into racists.  Good Americans see it as everyone is out to ruin the white man’s paradise.

I want my I Am UN-American t-shirt.  I intend to wear it as a badge of courage.  It is time for an “I Am UN-American’ project.

To paraphrase Eugene O’Neil from “A Moon for the Misbegotten”, ” It will be a mighty day for the poor and oppressed.”

9/11/01: Personal View From Europe

I have had reservations about posting anything about September 11, 2001.  The reservations are simple:  in the days following 9/11, we as a people came together and acted as one.  We now have become a hate machine.  Turning into the very thing, the very hatred that led to 9/11.  Still we proclaim during these “celebrations” of 9/11 our patriotism and love of country. Our flag waving.  We are idiots. This post is about an American in another country witnessing what happened on that ugly day, and how it affected me all those miles away.

It all began on an airplane crossing the pond for Greece.  I was filled with joy, even though I had just been there six months ago.  September is glorious in Greece.  It is still summer.  I arrived on September 9th.  It was a beautiful day.  I was with family in a country that was the beginning of freedom, of all things as we know them now.  Notwithstanding that, I had no illusions of how Europeans, all Europeans felt about America and Americans.  They saw, see us as the land where the streets are paved with gold, everyone is rich, but also a country and a people who imposes their will on other people of the world.  Our way or no way.  They feel this way with good reason.

On September 11th. my cousin and I met a friend for lunch.  It was really a surprise visit first to her shop in Athens, then lunch.  We left to make our way home at about 3:00 p.m. Athens time.  We got in the car and proceeded home and listened to the radio.  “There has been a terrible accident in New York City.”  I remember it like it was yesterday.  We thought train accident, the Lincoln Tunnel.  That was all they said.  We arrived home and started up the stairs.  My cousin lives in a three-story walk-up.  As we were climbing, we could hear the phone ringing, ringing and ringing.  I t would not stop.  We ran up the stairs.  My cousin answered the phone.  The friend we had lunch with told up to turn on the television.  As I did that, the second plane hit the second tower.  Our friend still trying to talk on the phone, and my cousin and I in shock.  Truth be told we did not believe it was real.

The rest of that day and for days following, the phone continuously rang.  Friends calling telling my cousin that they will take care of me and that I should not be afraid.  Amazingly, I wasn’t afraid.  My friends and family weren’t the only ones protecting me.  The Greek Government and other governments, swore that they would protect Americans.  They did just that.

We tried to live life as usual.  My cousin, friends and I were off to the British Consulate.  My cousin teaches English and needed supplies from the Consulate.  We got there on a hot, sunny day.  As we entered the building, they asked for passports or other ID.  I don’t carry any, I have never carried any.  I have had my pocket picked.  So in english I said, “That’s okay, I will wait for you outside.”  I went out the door,  lit a cigarette, and as I turned to wait, I found that the soldier, with his finger on the trigger of his ouzi or whatever weapon he was carrying that day, was standing six inches from me, protecting me.  We looked at each other but never spoke. There was no need.  We both knew what happened.  He stood next to me until my cousin came out, and then made sure I knew her.  When we walked away, he silently walked back into the consulate.  It was the first and only time I was afraid.  I say that, because I learned that day, I did not need to be afraid.  I was safe and would be defended and protected.

Yes I felt safe and protected.  That is not to say there weren’t protests and riots against America.  The U.S. Embassy was marched upon, protests in the streets of Athens and other cities.  There is no love lost among many in Greece and other European countries.  They tell you that America finally got what it deserved.  That it was God’s will for all our sins and deception.  It would be less than honest to say that America has not been all of those things.  I can say that how did we deserve this?  They will tell you remember Dresden? Remember the Junta of 1967?  Remember Cyprus?  Remember our starvation during  WWII while you did nothing?  They wonder why patriotism synonymous with hatred.  George W said, “Either you are with us or against us.”  Why must those who disagree with us be the enemy?

Make no mistake, I wanted justice.  Justice does not mean war.  Justice does not mean killing.  Justice does not mean blanket hatred of poor people, gay people, muslims, black people, the Irish, or those who oppose us.  Politics has become more important that human life.  Our superiority is our religion.  9/11 has become a money making machine. We have no Foreign policy. Only American policy.  We speak of democracy and freedom for everyone, but only if America can give it to them and of course it must be American democracy.  They laugh at our arrogance.

We are fighting two wars in two countries and call it protecting our freedom.  They won’t tell you they want justice, they want to bring criminals to justice or any such thing.  Our government tells us that we are protecting and defending our freedom.  That is pure bullsh$t.

The Europeans understand that.  They know we are playing games with their lives.  They don’t wish us death, but they want us to take responsibility.  Our government takes pride in its promotion of violence, extremism, destruction of America, and hatred.

My cousin was right many years ago.  She asked me why I was so sure that I was free and could do what ever I wanted?  Before I could answer, she told me that I wasn’t really free. Democracy in America was non-existent.  That we are trained from childhood to act and behave in a certain manner, read certain books, and to demand certain things, and that is why we think that we can do everything we want.  But in reality, we demand only what they, the government, is willing to give us.  Simple words, simple pictures manipulate the small child to be aware of what government wants, or teach the child to be a good citizen, and to teach the child to demand from government only what government is willing to give.  Is that freedom?

Ironically, 28 years ago, my cousin was right.  Look at us now.  We have allowed government to take our rights away, teach us to hate.  We can never bring democracy or freedom to the Middle East.  They have been killing each other since Abraham and Sarah.  The problem with the Middle East is that the killing is about religion.  Has always been about religion.  One sect of Islam against another sect of Islam.  It is not about freedom, democracy or human rights.  It is about religion.

Yes, I felt safe and protected in Greece and Europe.  So much more so than I do in my own country, America.
